Help with rotors

    I am finally getting around to installing the EBC slotted rotors and green pads, well I thought I was. After beating on the rotor till my face turned blue I just put it back together. I'll give it a stab next weekend.

    Here's the question, on the face of the rotor there are two threaded holes of which I assume are to be used for assisting in breaking these things free. Does anybody know what size and thread type screws I need to buy? Also what material, I don't want anything that might snap off in there.

    They are metric, and I have them at home. I will check them tomorrow, cuz I want some more. Any steel material that the hardware store sells is good.

    Sounds close, maybe 8x1.25. I know that they use those bolts on the truck, cuz that's how I got the originals.

    use some grill paint on the inside of the new rotors hat surface...next time itll come right off :)

    i just replaced my rotors on thursday night. From the time I stopped the truck til the time I pulled away loaded back up it took me an hour and 15 mins. But i had just replaced them last year so the bolts were easy to come out and I only did rotors not pads. two bolts each and a brake line holder bolt. Piece of cake.

    I used ebc oem last time....same this time cause i wasnt sure my problem. i had vibrations when braking from like 40mph to like 15mph then it would stop. So i replaced them first incase it wasnt even the problem. Which it was.

    i have green stuff 7000 pads

    Grill paint? I just put some anti seize i had from other stuff on there.

    Interesting... hadn't thought about that. I just caked some neverseize behind the new rotor. My new rotors don't have the jacking holes.

    Rear Differential Breather Extension, 4WD Light, Tailgate Pipe clamp, Fog lights on while High Beams on,2" Custom Rear Lift, Carrier Bearing flip 5100's and 883 OME Coils
    A little bit of anti-seize and they'll pop off the next time. I even put a dab or two on the front where the rim meets the rotor to keep the rim from seizing to the rotor.

    A plus for anti-seize here. Doesn't take much, likes to magically appear on fingers and hands and just as magically resist leaving fingers and hands.

    Good to know. I'm doing mine for the first time in a couple weeks and I assumed a BMFH (Big Mother Fing Hammer) would do the trick but possibly not.

    Thanks much for all the replies. This is the first rotor change but I will definetly try either the paint or the anti-seize for the future. Florida's salty air probably has something to do with it.

    Checked the threads yesterday, and the bolts needed are going to be 5/16x18 , should be universal for all rotor and drum applications.

    Holy cow what a difference. No more brake noise! No more shimmy in steering wheel when braking.

    Also, my brake pedal used to go down an unnatural distance (like half way) before braking occured, now the pedal goes a very short distance before they start to work. Brakes feel like the wife's 4Runner now. Night and day difference from before.

    As far as the pedal distance maybe the new rotors are wider or maybe the pad are just thicker but they engage perfectly now.

    I think I am more excited about the new brakes then I was when the lift went in lol.

    BTW the screws popped the old rotors off with ease. The bolt size ended up being M8-1.25 x 30

    As a perk the drilled/slotted rotors look bad ass sitting behind the rims. Ok, maybe not bad ass but pretty cool atleast.

    Now let's see how long they last.
