IMG_4762.jpg IMG_4763.jpg IMG_4766.png I’m installing the Rough Country 3” lift kit on an 06 4WD. SKU is 74531. In the pictures you can obviously tell something’s not right. I called rough country and they said I needed the upgraded upper control arms to get it to work. SKU 74201A however on the website it says “ONLY fits models with Tacoma's with 3.5-inches of suspension lift.” So was customer service right? I still need those control arms or will the control arms not work because my lift is only 3”???? If you’ve installed this 3” kit please help me out im lost.IMG_4762.jpg IMG_4763.jpg

These Rough Country 3" & 3.5" kits are bad news all around. They lift the truck much higher than components can handle (in this case the UCAs), and don't use corrective drop brackets & knuckles.

If the UCA is touching the spring (and/or you can't set the wheel alignment (camber & caster angles) properly), then yes, absolutely you should get new UCAs for that. Plain & simple.

Most aftermarket uca's will provide better clearance between the uca and the coil, help correct alignment numbers, allow a little more articulation, and better clearance between the uca and the tire.

UCA's are a good idea with any extended travel shock.

RC is junk btw. Inflated lift numbers and sag after a while, top hats have short studs which im not even sure if a lean spacer can be added.
