    Hi there,

Pretty new to the forum so thanks in advance for your feedback. I have a 2015 TRD Sport and gave it a wash and wax today. Looking closely at the paint I find a ton of these small rust like spots. They seem to come off with a lot of elbow grease and my finger nail nut there is no way I can get to them all this way. Many seem to be below the windows in that small recessed area and in this photo on the hood. Can anyone offer me any suggestions remove these? Does anyone know what they are from? I'm guessing I can't be the only one with this issue.

    Thanks!

    Looks like iron deposits.
Get you a bottle of "Iron X".
    Or Adams Iron remover.

Where do you live? I was going to say shotgun fungus but you’re only likely to see that on your door panels, it lives in mulch.

On a side note, when’s the last time you clay bar’d? Paint looks like it could use it.

It's definitely in need of a good detail. Find a local shop that does ceramic coating. They should be able to bring the paint back to life and with ceramic coating you'll get some paint protection and ease of maintenance.

Yes, Iron x is a great product. Follow the directions and you'll see great results.
Follow up with a clay bar then wax or sealant and it'll look terrific.

I have been told by a few people it's jet fuel. Detailers and people in body shops told me that. It comes off with a clay bar or a buffer.

Actually, it's more commonly called "rail dust" - which is fine iron particles that settle on the paint, then corrode. That's why the previous suggestions to dissolve it using Iron-X or similar products are the way to fly. Many people used to remove it with a clay bar, but doing so could sometimes induce surface marring which required further correction work prior to a wax / sealant / coating. Dissolving the iron is a much safer way to go even though some follow up correction probably wouldn't hurt.

So now that we've discussed what it is and how to remove it, I have a question that nobody's asked. Where the heck is it coming from? I too have a Super White truck and occasionally find spots like that - which are easily removed. But I've never in 20 years of driving white vehicles seen as many spots as the OP has. I would suggest that he must be parking someplace very near the source of all of that junk. Not parking there would be a critical additional step.

And that part of your hood scoop is actually plastic and easily removed. Couple 10mm bolts and i think two Philips screws and you can really get your hands on it and scrub. Ive never tried the iron x stuff but a clay bar will do wonders

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'm adding some new photos to show the improvement after doing the IronX treatment. Night & Day!! I will get around to the clay bar next round, ran out of daylight this time to get everything done. A few of you asked where the hell this truck is parked. On the street in NYC - I guess that explains some things! IMG_4053.jpgIMG_4132.jpgIMG_4132.jpg

    More than I can afford
Stuff works wonders. Stinks like ass but delivers results.

Tip for those of you with nice concrete driveways. Either do this out on the street or make sure your driveway is wet and stays hosed down the whole time. I have 4 rust stains (one where each wheel was) in my less then a year old driveway from this stuff and what it removed from the truck.

I used the Lemon, still stinks like ass. I think whatever flavor you choose it's gonna stink.
