I have a 1999 tacoma with an Old Man Emu 3 inch lift and an add a leaf, It's getting to where I need to replace the shocks pretty soon. The shocks I have in the front are the blue and yellow Bilsteins and I'm not sure of the ones in the rear they look like an unbranded white pair of shocks. My issue is the lift was put on the truck years before I bought it so I'm not sure of the exact measurements and what not, I want to put in Bilsteins 5100's all the way around and don't know what the measurements need to be for them to fit in good. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 5100s for our truck only come in one length. What you have to determine is what length coil springs you want. You want your lift to come from those, so simply find coils that give you your desired lift. Then you can assemble those coil springs with 5100s or pay a local off-road shop to do that part for you.

Blue and Yellow Bilsteins will be the 4600 series. Silver is either 5100 or 6200(?). The front will be pretty standard 5100s for the tacoma. If they are 4600s in the rear with 3" of lift, you're either severely limited in travel, or they are "custom" length (custom in that they are generic and measured in collapsed and extended length). The rear shocks are extremely easy to remove- Just pull one off and measure them. Guessing that the standard 5100 for lifted applications will be sufficient for you though.

    Bilstein 4600 shocks.
I'm wondering how the previously installed Bilstein 4600s could work with 3" OME lift springs...wouldn't that have left very little down travel, since those are for stock springs?
