image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Hey guys, since I recently got my 2014 taco I was shocked about my TRAC OFF light and my engine light coming on the other day. My first thought was maybe it's because I have a 30in lower valence light bar that is tapped into the wire that lights the traction control switch when the headlights are turned on. I checked my wire taps and all the wiring and even completely removed the wire tap and my light bar switch to see if that was the problem and yet the light remained on saying TRAC off. So I checked all my fluids knowing I need an oil change in 400 miles and again nothing wrong in any of the places I checked. I then unplugged my negative side of the battery to reset my stuff and the lights when off until this morning when they came back on. I am not sure what to do and I don't want to go to Toyota and have them say my light bar voided warranty. Any suggestions would be awesome thanks!!

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
It would be nice to know what engine code is set.

An engine code will set off those 2 lights

Any auto parts store can plug in to your truck and tell you what code is associated with the CEL. It gives you info in to correctly identify what is turning on that CEL.

Oh okay, but is there anyway I can personally see the code or find out what it is that's going wrong without going to and auto place?

You will need to connect an OBD2 Scanner to the diagnostics port on the left side of the steering wheel under the dash to read the code from the ECU.

Oh haha dam I don't have anything like that. Well you think Toyota will blame it on my lights being tapped to the switches or will it depen on the source of the problem?

They shouldn't blame the light bar until they at least run the codes

Yeah this happened to my friend last week. CEL light came on, she freaked out, then we went to auto zone and the guy said it was a loose gas cap. He said it usually throws some kind of vacuum leak error code when the cap is loose.

Yes, some aftermarket gas caps don't have a good seal and that would cause the code to be set off.

Or an OEM cap that isn't tight enough
