Help with TRAC OFF and check engine light

Hey guys just got my taco back, the dam lockable has cap from autozone is causing the problem

 

Called it

 

You put the original gas cap back on, but you just didnt clear the code in the ECU. That's why the light was still on.

I'm surprised nobody has told you to get a code scanner to read and clear the codes.

 

how much are they? and Im still using the locking gas cap for now I park outside on a busy street so I am cautious. Im gunna go to auto zone and make sure it is indeed the correct size.

 

Just had this happen to me literally a month ago, my situation was much worse than most....

Code P0420.....ended up being my catalytic converter was falling apart internally...hope you fare better friend

 

No issues with my locking Stant cap for the last 4 years

THANK YOU! These lights were on - I just read this - went out to the truck, removed gas cap, replaced it - and No more lights!

 

i threw a p0012 this morning. tightened gas cap, and cleared the codes. still have yet to drive the truck to see if the lights come on again...

 

2012 DCSB 73k, these just popped up. Truck starts to sputter at 20-40mph, cleaned throttle body, cleaned mass air flow sensor with correct spray then changed out sensor. Changed out plugs to brand new OEM plugs, I even gave the gas caps a few extra clicks

 

Just got one after installing on my 4 runner code p144c I believe. Ideas to fix?

That's what happened too me,had to go back to the factory cap,as I could never get any locking caps to keep the trac light off.
