Help with transfer case oil

    No. The plugs are 24mm external hex like the rear diff. Crush washers are a different type, too, because the T-case is aluminum.

    While there is a synchros in the T-case, Toyota has spec'd GL5 in there since 1995 with no issues. 75W90 will be fine.

    I wasn't trying to turn this into an oil debate. Was just giving OP options, and info he could look into if he so pleased.

    Still figuring it out…
    Thanks I have the front drain/fill plugs since the hex likes to strip out on them. The rear will need replaced I’m sure since they like to round off but didn’t know about the transfer case. Just got underneath it, they are the same external hex as the rear, just have to find them and order them to be here by Thursday.

    Still figuring it out…
    Unfortunately it looks like they haven’t even been touched, no marks on heads or anything, so at 95,000 miles it’ll get it’s first front, rear and transfer oil change. This truck was in every 5000 miles at the toyota dealership to get oil changed and serviced (according to the carfax report) you woulda thought they would’ve done that at least once.
