I am going to schedule my fuel pump recall soon and would like my dealer to do the shifting/ecu TSB as well.

They have refused in the past and “couldn’t replicate the problem” and said “no TSB exsists”.

I have a 2018 OR, and have read about 0062-18(?) and 92-20. Is there another TSB I should know about that is more applicable?

What should I bring with me to help convince them to help?

Sorry In advance I know this has been covered before.

Tell them the car feels like its chugging at around 45-50 mph. They still may not do it, but its worth a shot.

Print off the TSB and read off the symptoms word for word.

In the same boat as you with a PITA dealer.

Before I went to the dealer for my fuel pump work, I deliberately went out on a stretch of highway that I drive on all the time. Set the cruise control at 70, propped my phone up on the steering wheel so you could clearly see the tach and that the cruise control was indeed on, and let it do its thing. There are two small hill overpasses that the truck will drop to 3rd and rev up to almost 5K rpm every time to go over them, one right after the other and that day was no exception. They started with the "well, we have to drive it and confirm it bull$hit" so I showed the video to the svc advisor and then handed him the TSB printed out. They didn't argue about doing the reflash after they saw the video.

Buy a tactrix cable and just download techstream yourself following the instructions in the ECU thread with the TSB you want. It seems complicated at first but it's pretty easy. Feel free to reach out if you have questions.

    tried this before lol

Showed them the 62(?)-18 TSB last time I was there, still didn’t help.

I’m near Grand Rapids in MI if that helps.
this seems like the best option. Thank you.

You will need to get tech stream and the tactrix cable, which is $180. The dealer doing it is free as long as your rig is listed for it. Just catch the truck doing it on video and bring it in. If they start their $hit, call Toyota and send them your proof too. They'll do it and it won't cost you anything.

If you are using Toyota of Grand Rapids, there might be your problem.

I used them for service until about 45k miles, and finally gave up and started up with Kool on the north end which is closer to my house vs work.

I was able to get control arm plugs and one trans tsb from Toyota of GR around 5k miles back in ‘16-17, but after that the service writers would not even record a word I said about any issues. There is much more to my story with them but overall not impressed.

If you are already using Kool, maybe give Muskegon a call.

So far for me Toyota has been many steps up in many aspects but I have yet had to deal with a TSB. My experience with other manufacturers is they need to replicate said issue prior to completing a TSB and certain recalls. My boss has a newer RAM 1500 Ecodiesel and ran into the common EGR Cooler failure. There was an active recall on his truck and he brought it in numerous times in limp mode. Dealership would simply clear the codes then give him his truck back and state they could not replicate the issue. Truck was coming up on the end of the warranty and he literally had to get mad at them before they would finally take care of it. Good luck getting the TSB handled.

Check out this thread, first post has tons of details. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ecu-tsb-update.562550/#post-18431380 Hint: Click the spoilers things to expand the topics details.

For reference, T-SB-0092-20 is not VIN based but rather ECU ID based, only 2019 and 2020's use the identified calibration codes. Same for T-SB-0013-19, calibration based as used on specific model years.

The latest for your 2018 is as follows:

-- TSB-0013-19 -- 2016 through 2018 MT and AT Update plus several other Toyotas

MT ECU IDs 04B10 through 04B12 are updated to 04B13 and 04A70 is updated to 04A71

AT ECU IDs 04B00 through 04B03 are updated to 04B04 and 04A60 is updated to 04A61

print the TSB's, take it to the dealer, tell them if they dont update the ecu for your issue, you will take your truck to another dealer for both the fuel pump, and ecu calibration update. this is a customer service issue. Ski

I will be trying to get my dealer to do the ECU and vibration TSB. Also looks like I fall in the fuel pump recall (I just did the fuel pump recall on my Lexus earlier this year too). I just hope my dealer isn’t going to be a duck about it and just do the TSBs.

I'm pretty sure this TSB is a driveability issue and not a technical issue, which means the dealership tech isn't required to reproduce. As long as you say you have the symptoms, that's all that's needed.
