Hello all. I am new to this forum and recently bought my first Tacoma, she’s a 2006 4 door TRD.

I am looking to replace the rims as they have some corrosion and are a little bit of an eye sore. If I purchase 16” rims aftermarket what else do I need to look for to make sure they will fit my truck? Other than the 6 lug nut pattern. I’ve found some new rims taken off of a 2018 Tacoma...if they are 16” should they fit fine? Thanks for the help!

    Welcome to TW, Elle!

Rim measurements with which to be concerned include...
    - Diameter (which you listed) = distance from one side of the rim's bead seat floor to the opposite side's bead seat floor, not the diameter of the outer rim edge
    - Width = distance from the outboard bead seat to the inboard bead seat
    - Backspace = distance from the hub mounting surface to the inside lip of the wheel
    - Offset = location of the center section's hub contact face, relative to the mid-point of the rim width
    - Number of lugs (which you listed) = self-explanatory
    - Bolt pattern = the diameter of an imaginary circle formed by the centers of the wheel lugs
    - Stud size = stud diameter x thread pitch
    - Center bore = size of the center hole in the wheel that centers it on the hub

IIRC, 2nd Gen 6-lug Tacomas came with
    - 16"-17" diameter
    - 7"-7.5" width
    - 5" backspace
    - +30mm offset
    - 6 X 140mm bolt pattern
    - M12 X 1.5 stud size
    - 106mm center bore

Not sure where you're shopping rims, but Discount Tire and TireRack both allow shopping by vehicle, displaying a variety of options that will fit. Good luck!

Some aftermarket 16s will rub the calipers with the wheel weights on. Be careful. We had 1 idiot that did this and wanted his wheels balanced once a week and complained that they hit the calipers, no shit jackass, buy wheels that fit properly. My factory 16s clear the brakes with no troubles. Even if I stack the weights 5 high

From my experience going into one of the @Discount Tire shops, or a shop that works with Tirerack or Tire Pros have given me good advise on what will fit and what wont. This way if I like a certain rim, and Im not sure I can have a person to ask questions to.

If you plan on keeping your current tires and want to save money, why not sand off the corrosion on your current wheels and rattle can paint it whatever color of choice? BTW, welcome to TW.

I highly doubt OEM wheels have a BS of 4", given that offset. Most OEM wheels have backspacing closer to 5.5".

Good catch. Typo fixed, though I thought it was closer to 5".

The more common OEM wheel style pictured for the 2nd gen Tacomas are roughly 5.4" bs due to being 7.5" wide. There are some styles that are 7" wide that are closer to 5"bs.
