    Well, OP, I'll play along. You got really only one choice: See if you can take him to small claims court. Might get most of your money back. Regardless of whether you take him to court or just take the 500 and walk away, take the truck to a proper 4x4 shop and see what they can do. It ain't going to be cheap and will probably never ride smooth as it could have if you'd started with the 4x4 shop. But, they're probably your best hope. Any other possible choice would be dangerous to you and those around you and would likely involve serious legal consequences which is why I will not mention them. And, I seriously doubt anyone else will either.

    Good luck with your one real choice, hope it works out for the best, and that the 4x4 place can make your truck safe and enjoyable to drive for years to come.
