    It's cost enough that if the admins don't want to pay for it out of pocket and can't get enough donations they may choose to just shut down or remove features. The forum I'm on for my previous vehicle only has a few thousand members and takes donations and they have to remove some features to avoid moving up to the next hosting package since the owners don't want to foot all the bill and people don't donate do it like they used to. So I'd imagine it's not cheap running a site of our size or a similar forum.
