my 550s do not fit as well with the updated pack...those bent u-bolts look like the ticket...wonder if they'll sell me a set, doubt I can get them free since my springs are like 3 years old now.

I can take a pic this afternoon.

The ubolt on the driver side is right next to the gas tank, that ubolt mounts sideways with the torque nuts facing outwards. The passenger front mounts just like the rear ubolts. Since the front mounts are different with no adjustment on the driver's side, I measured the distance of the driver's side and applied that measurement to the front passenger side so the two Springs would have the same amount of tension.

Remember the more you tighten down the ubolts in the rear the softer the ride; the more arch in the spring the stiffer the ride.

My updated ubolts arrived this afternoon. I am super happy with Hellwig's customer service and the 980's I purchased! The first and second set of ubolts didn't fit right with the factory spring keeper. These give me exactly what I wanted without affecting my ride quality loaded or unloaded.

what is to keep the U bolt on the helwigs from becoming loose at droop? seems like they would clack around alot too when suspension moves.

That's good to know about the customer service, I didn't buy the 550's because I was afraid the u bolt would hit the spring clamp, I think that offset u bolt would fix the problem.

I wonder if the 2017 leafs and the same as the 2015

The Hellwigs allow for more axle articulation when off-road than airbags or sumo springs. The make no noise.

Installed today . Works with tundra racing drop kit . Got 2013 tsb springs and seems a little different . Had to install passenger side front u bolts side ways like drivers side because 3rd leaf end is to close to spring clamp. Need to order that u bolt .
Thanks Taco351 for pics and info:thumbsup:

    For anyone with TR kit
Actually got a little arc back and to me ride feels a little softer over bumps . Will test some weight latter.

    20170810_104911.jpg

Also had to make a spacer to go in helper spring center hole cause was to big .Also needed new centering pin so could center into TR axle perch.

Did you have any issues with the very back end of your 980s rubbing your frame. If I center my driver side on my factory leaf pack the back tip rubs the frame. My concern is that on large bumps or at full flex I with hit the frame. Also, did you pop off that little round plastic plug thing in stock leaf where back 980 u bolt goes? Thanks

Yes. I had to cut the bottom tab off of the plastic spring shim. The updated bolts are a little shorter than the ones you probably got. Originally, I had to tighten down the ubolts to keep them from rubbing the frame. No problem now though.

I have an 08 TRD with the recall packs. Localish Toyota dealer preformed the recall 2 months ago. I have done virtually 0 off roadin since then, as I pretty much worked the whole time and had 2 different work trucks. I just built a sleeping platform in the back and have a shell so wanted to offset the weight.
Got them through suspensionconnection.com the hellwig 979 is what was recommended. A note said to get the 980 if you have the recall leaf pack. Im finding several different sets of instructions to put these on. I have them mounted long end forward now and I'm at the point where I have to cut off my exhaust to make the rear U bolts fit. (By the way half of the axle u bolt nuts were fingertight from the dealership. Glad I haven't been doing any off-roading...)
Before I cut off the exhaust I want to make sure that these are correct and mounted correctly, obviously. The pictures that I have seen of the u-bolt mounting positions look very different from where mine will be. I will post pictures here, looking for suggestions / confirmation. Thanks
both of these pictures are passenger side, driver side looks identical concerning the relation of the new u-bolts to the leaf spring keeper clips . 1503187571808-1597224577.jpg 1503187667342-1749473331.jpg

I finished installing my 980's a few days ago on my 2016 TRD Off-road double cab. Overall, I am very impressed. I have a camper shell and lost about a half inch in the rear. I also bottomed out quite often at highway speeds prior to install. The 980 has fixed that issue and it raised the rear end 1 inch. About a half inch above stock. The ride is great! Hellwig is sending me different rear offset u bolts like taco351. Great customer service!

Your recall springs look different than my 3rd gen. Not really sure what the answer is.
