IMG_1776.jpg IMG_1783.jpg Did mine last year. Got two coats on, only used 1/2 of a 1 gallon container. It's ok. Thinking about getting a Raptor-liner, or Scorpion-liner to spray in there. From what I understand, they are both very user friendly and come with everything you need.

I hate to break to you dry climate guys, but unless you "reworked" the bed when your Tacoma was new there's already rust starting along the floor seams. Toyota applied the seam sealer so poorly in these areas that water and shit has been creeping in from under. Adding a liner just gives the rust and water free reign to rust jack the coating up and keep on rusting. Toyota does a lot of things right, but rust protection has never been one of them when it came to truck beds, which is why they're now plastic

Just quoted myself here because I didn't feel like repeating myself.

You can sand down rust when it's rusting in between the floor seams. You can hit it with rust mort, but that really ain't going to do shit

I guess I'll try one more time...

    *...fix the rust...*

That could mean anything from sanding down the exposed sections, to cutting out and welding in new sheet metal, to replacing the entire bed if that's what is necessary.

The only solution to severe rust in these beds is to throw it away and start the fuck over. I tired to get a small hole fixed in my old bed, but there was not a body shop willing to go down that rat hole. Trying to get rust in seams is like trying to get bed bugs out of a mattress. The panels overlap by a half inch and guess where the rust has taken root? The problem is no one knows it's there until it's too late. The construction reminds me a lot of 84-88 beds where they cheap-ed out where it really mattered. They left the backsides of the bed sides in primer with no seam sealer. 95.5 to 04 beds they also failed again no seam sealer on the bottom bed floor seams. They relied strictly on the shultz coating as a seam sealer and there are gaps. My replacement bed from the west coast had gaps and to be proactive we sprayed as much wayoyl and hardwax as we could in the seams.

The people that think roll on, spray on and power coatings are a silver bullet in protection against rust are mistaken.

Being a southern truck, org from Florida it has very little rust at all. Only a few spots here and there. I’ve got to do something with the hood soon it’s almost to bare metal in a couple places. Clear coat is peeling badly as well.

Now that I’ve monstalined my whole truck I’m beginning to get surface rust in a couple places I didn’t have it before. Shoulda done 3 coats.

Probably gonna try and fix it this summer the best I can. But really, with all the work my truck needs and the problems it had already it isn’t a big deal haha.

After a few days of use, im pleased with it.. very solid product... don't really expect the dark black finish to last long with our hot summers here but i can live with that i guess for the price.
