Michelle Kosilek — the wife-strangling transsexual who spent years fighting for a taxpayer-funded sex-change operation — is “very, very moved” by a federal judge’s surprise ruling yesterday that orders the state’s prison system to bankroll his surgical journey into womanhood, his lawyer told the Herald.
“She really appreciates the careful consideration of the court, and the respectful decision,” attorney Frances S. Cohen said of her client, Michelle Kosilek — formerly known as Robert — an MCI-Norfolk lifer who has been diagnosed with gender-identity disorder and sued the state in 2006 to provide sex-change surgery. “She’s been living with this problem for a very long time.”
In a mammoth, 128-page ruling, U.S. District Court Judge Mark Wolf said denying Kosilek the surgery violates his Eighth Amendment protection against cruel and unusual punishment. Kosilek’s doctors say the gender-identity disorder has caused him to try both self-castration and suicide. They prescribed the surgery.

DOC spokeswoman Diane Wiffin said the department is weighing whether to appeal. She would not say whether Kosilek would be transferred to a women’s prison, or whether the department expects a glut of similar lawsuits from the 15 other inmates diagnosed with gender-identity disorder. Each has a specialized treatment plan but she would not say whether any of those plans call for surgery.
Wolf’s decision drew rebukes from Bay State GOP leaders, with U.S. Sen. Scott Brown calling it “an outrageous waste of taxpayer dollars.” State Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr said the ruling “is well beyond the scope of reason, and an unjustifiable expansion of the requirements of the Eighth Amendment. The decision will lead to an outrageous result in the current case and sets a bad precedent for future cases.”
Kosilek, 63, was convicted in 1992 of strangling his wife, Cheryl, and leaving her body at a North Attleboro mall. Prosecutors said at his trial — where he wore women’s clothing, long nails and long hair — that he killed her and splurged hundreds of dollars on women’s clothing and makeup to start a new life as a single gal.
John Moses, the Bristol prosecutor who tried the case, told the Herald he was torn about the ruling.
“As a human being, it seems absurd. A guy who’s doing life for murdering his wife wants to get a sex-change operation so he can feel good,” Moses said. “The other half is, a person who is held has a right to be treated for illness ... and it becomes very difficult to draw a line. It’s a case where consistent application of the law leads to some results that are patently absurd to many people.”

Tanner I like the way you think. Most younger people lack any critical thinking skills. But for their ability to remember things, they would be lost...not you.

I posted this story yesterday but didn't really detail my thought out of respect of TWs rules.

I'm still not going to but in a nut shell:

The fact he/she/it is able to have this proceedure at all is a reflection of how far we, as US citizens, have fallen. Think about it, we send our kids to the "best" learning centers in the world like Harvard & Brown so they can "defend" and support groups like the ACLU, LGBT, ADA, EPA etc, (you fill in the letters). The thing is while some of the points these groups make may be valid, the lawyers pervert the laws they get enacted. And while we're worried and spending tax $$$ about and on the murdering freak boy getting his dick cut off we fail to keep our eye on the ball of really protecting our country or even having the rescources to do so...

We are paying for this when we should be protecting our boarders (any idea how many non-mexicans that are from terror supporting countries are slipping across the boarder). We are paying for this when we should be making sure our troops overseas should be able to vote (Obama appointed Leon Penetta, the Secretary of Defense, says the DoD doesn't have the money to follow the laws designed to help deployed troops vote). We're paying for this when every household in the US owes damn near $140,000.00 each just to pay off the principal on the national debt.

In a sane world our leades would be tried as criminals...
