I had the same experience, and my awareness/senses are perfectly fine. My 16 had the shifting problem that was corrected with the update, but no other rattles/vibrations, etc. I experienced no issues that people are consistently reporting, my fluids were good, nothing howls or rattles. Seems like you post a lot of very opinionated, gritty stuff... just accept the fact that not all 3rd gens are bad apples, and some people got lucky.

Also, I wouldn't describe a fault-free 3rd Gen as a unicorn... more like a super-hot, totally sane woman that likes to go to the desert... they're sure hard to find, but they're out there.

I got one, and for the life of me I'm trying to figure out how to make the truck reproduce those vibrations for her that everyone's complaining about.

I'm sure it'll be skewed, many of us only see them when they're quoted.

Unless those are play money figures, why would you roll the dice on $35k to $40k?

And if you did roll the dice, and the dice came back with a negative result, why would you be pissed since it was you that rolled the dice with the understanding that when rolling dice the outcome can be unfavorable?

Do you really think you're a victim here, if as you put it, you rolled the dice?

What ever the number, do you think Toyota would be proud of being no better and no worse than the competition? My gut tells me that they have higher expectations for their products.

From a quality perspective World Class is about 98% with zero defects. That is the standard where I work.

The Six Sigma shit they pushed on us was something like 1 defect per million, I would hope they are not satisfied with how things are and trying to improve.

I bought my truck in Nov 2015, before all the issues were blasted on TW. Had I been aware of all the potential issues, I might have just bought a used 2nd Gen.

BUT, thanks to my previous ignorance, I ended up with a fault-free 3rd Gen. Funny how life is.

Quoting TW poll stats for the entire population doesn't work. They will be skewed.

Not saying that 250 folks are lieing, just that you can't use that data to prove anything other than based on a TW poll there are 250 or more people having that issue.

High means we can not make any claims based on our data sample that would hold up.

I am sure yota is working to improve issues, but we all know that these "World Class, ISO, SIG" yada yada yada things all work hard to hide stuff as well. I bet these stats have something to do with lemoned trucks and the rest don't get figured in.

Love my 2017 Tacoma TRD off road in magnetic gray. I haven't experienced these transmission issues everyone is getting in the 3rd Gen tacos. It does shift down and the upwards on hills but so did the last vehicle I owned. I only put 2700 miles on her so far but she drives like a dream for me and when I mash the gas I get to 0 to 60 in 7.5 seconds pretty normal for a pickup.

I've been off roading twice and the 4LO got me through the trails just fine. I haven't tried the crawl control and MTS system yet but I can't wait to try it.

I love the built in navigation, intune audio system, and rear sliding glass panel for when I have my dog in the bed he can peep his head in the cab.

I coming from Scion tC with a much more annoying transmission than this Tacoma so this truck is like a massive upgrade for me. I love the truck and I plan to drive her until the wheels fall off.

The SS stuff is a little over the top and unaffordable, so I totally agree.

2% Defects is pretty good and manageable.

Not sure light duty trucks, but Lexus as a whole was pretty trouble free in the past.

As for my industry, we almost always delivery our products with zero defects.

I've had issues with all of my Toyota trucks, the 3rd gen with the most so soon.

    I'm happy that you're happy.

    Have yourself a wonderful day!
