Yes, yes, another tire thread, I have a 17’ Sport that I just ordered a 2.5” front 1”rear block/spacer lift.

My setup I plan on (only thing I need to order now is tires):

    17x8.5 Method 305 (0mm offset, 4.75BS)
    285/70/17 BFG KO2
    SPC Adj UCA

I’ll cut the crap and ask, is there anybody who can direct me to an aforementioned thread that encompasses my exact plans? I’m stressed out because I don’t want to trim if I can avoid it, and definitely don’t want to do a cab mount chop. Any input would be appreciated. Lastly, I’m not 100% set on the 285s, but I would like to keep the 32-33” tire diameter. I sorta feel like the 255/80/17s are a bit too narrow for my liking. Thanks.

You can do 285s without trimming anything...

If you don't mind tires rubbing

275/70/17 will work for you, no cab mount chop. I put this lift in for co-worker. He has never had an issue. He barely rubs in mud flaps in front which he has had zero concerns about and ignores because it is so infrequent.

    Left truck is 265/70/17
    Right truck is 275/70/17

Pretty much ANY block-spacer lift, especially one with add-a-leafs, will be high enough to warrant Upper control arms.
1.-Your OEM alignment cams will be at or very near Maximum after even modest lifting.
2.-The alignment of your truck after lifting has MASSIVE implications on your CV's, axles, driveline, wheel-bearings and so on.
3.-Alignments cost money themself, and you might need more than 1 to get it right.
4.-Many "chain" alignment places do not do aftermarket alignments, or will only align to factory configurations, which you no longer are.
5.-Lifting your truck, then adding "offroad tires" (increase in rotating/unsprung weight is HUGE EFFECT) and offset wheels to clear body/control arms, will have a COMPOUNDING EFFECT on the above mentioned parts in point 2

    Regarding your UCA's:
-caster is essentially where your wheel moves forward or backward in the wheel well. positive caster moves the wheel forward in the well so bigger tires fit better.
-UCA's primary use for the average person is the high positive caster, where you can angle your wheel forward in the well to help clear 285's.
-you will need caster set at or above 3

Why would you put a spacer lift on your $45K truck?
Save your money and do it right. Good luck with your truck.

    3 year-old Sport isn't worth 45k. :p
You'll need to trim the plastic for around-town driving. Play with the SPC UCAs enough and you may be able to avoid touching the cab mount - set the LCA cams for max caster and do all your camber and caster fine-tuning with the upper ball joint. Need to find an alignment shop that'll listen to you (most won't), or DIY with a fishing line and digital level.

If you’re looking for someone to say it’ll work then that just means you probably already know the answer.

virtually all of the most serious problems can be avoided by staying with 265/70/17 Tires. just get C-load 265/70/17 BFG ko2's and you will simultaneously impress the internet, passers-by on the street, and steer clear of the WORST must un-fixable nonsense that cutting into your cab/frame and body work entail.

I don’t know the answer already, which is why I made this thread and am losing sleep over this. Also why I’m asking if this will work. And finally, if it won’t work, why I haven’t bought tires for it yet.

With 4.75 backspace, I don't think you can get enough caster to stay off the cab mount

Edit: 8.5 inch wheel with 0 offset 4.75 BS:if any wheel would work, this is probably it.

There is an overwhelming amount of people that claim they will rub and a large amount that say they will clear. I'm at the point where I want to run 285 70r17 on SCS ray 10's with a -10 offset when I get my truck and am willing to do whatever is needed to make it work.

Why dont you install the kit, get a proper alignment with more caster and see what your clearances look like before you pull the trigger on tires. It's better to select tires based on your suspension setup rather than building your truck around tires.
I'm going to build around my tire/wheel choice but I'm not afraid to put in the work to clear them :)

Nope. He literally barely - barely touches the mud flaps. Not worth his time to fix it. Lol

Play with the tire size comparison. Size difference between a 285/70/17 to a 275/70/17 is not noticeable when parked side by side unless you suffer from OCD.

You will regret a spacer lift and tires that rub. Keep it stock. Good luck.
