What do you plan on doing with your truck? There are better lift options out there for sure but not everyone needs to go to a full KING setup...

Does anybody else have any info on 265/70/17s 275/70/17s as far as fitnent goes? Honestly, if I were to look at 265/70/17s, I would need pictures to try and convince me, as I’m on the fence with a thinner tire. Thanks for all your responses so far guys!

I honestly just plan on driving it around town and the occasional road trip. I don’t need to worry about off road performance, it as it’ll only rarely see dirt. It’s mostly just gonna be for looks.

If you dont care about possibly a little bit stiffer ride, you'll probably be happy with what you've got and it'll look nice. There are tons of people running your setup with no complaints. Just dont expect a gain in suspension performance and you'll be fine.
If you start getting into trails and offroad use you may realize the need for an upgrade later... That's where the "buy once cry once" comes in.

its almost like your insistent on fucking up the truck, and the real question is:
"How far can I fuck the truck up before Ive gone to far?"

If you need a good "convincing" to take the option that for SURE will avoid 3/4th of the worst damage the block spacer lift will incur, youre already past the point of hope.

This thread could be a sticky. Youre doing something completely and totally optional, purely for LIKES and you need "convinced" to see the point of reason.

LOL the sympathy for ya is gone, gl/hf.

That not at all what I’m trying to do, and what did I even do to you to make you act like a douchebag? I’m posting on here to make the best of what I have/to make the truck be what I want it to be, like everybody else on this forum. And just because I’d rather not spend every dime I have doesn’t mean I don’t care about the truck. I truly DO care about the truck and want to know what I need to do to keep it nice. I’m sure lots of others can understand that.

The 255/80R17 will look fine with a 0 offset wheel. I wouldn't worry about them looking too narrow. I have 255/85R16s and they look fantastic, not too narrow. The only thing I would change is buying some 0 or mildly negative offset wheels to bring them out farther in the wheel well. I would cancel the spacer lift order and buy a cheap set of coil overs and an AAL

I have a 1/4 spacer i can put on if I don’t like stance, but im really trying to stay away from spacers. What offset are you running at the moment? I saw a blue OR on a “pizza cutter” thread that looked great at certain angles but a little skinny from others. IMO 255/80 or 85s have potential to look great, I just have trouble picturing it.

    Good point
    Who's installing the lift
If you go to a shop that does knows lifts they should be able to set the alignment right
On 2nd gens setting caster to 3* works good if you don't do any hard wheeling

I’ve got some connections and access to a couple automotive 2 post lifts, so I’ll be installing the lift and getting it driveable and going straight to a tire shop my buddy manages for an alignment. By the sound of it, it’s the same caster adjustment on the 3rd gens too.

youre not being "attacked". I didnt hurt you. its just words on a screen.

I and a handful of other people came in here and gave you good thoguhtful advice about the objective solution to your problem and your response was:
I mean what else can anyone do at this point? Surely you can google search "Toyota Tacoma 265/70/17"? or "Toyota tacoma xxx/xx/17"

I stand by my point^ I mean its coming down to your insistence on trading how the truck 'looks at certain angles' for the objective mechanical impact xxx/xx/17 tires/lift are about to subject your truck to for facebook/social media approval. There is far FAAAR more to "lifting a truck" than slapping the parts on and driving off. Its a massive geometric change to the entire truck

If this is your only vehicle or you are making payments etc.. you would have to be almost pathological to prioritize "how the truck looks from certain angles" vs long-view decision making about what you are actually doing and the real-life implications of this decision
Were all guilty of this to a certain extent just by virtue of being here, but this thread is a text-book case of 'message-board mental-illness' straight up poisoning your brain. Millimeters on tires are convincing you to throw all objective reality and reason out the window.
-are huge tires worth 'all of this'?
-are there other solutions that are viable, cheaper and have less overhead?
-can any percentage of humanity higher than 1% tell the difference between a 285 tire and a 265?
-how much will you hate your truck and want to careen headfirst into oncoming traffic knowing you have 70 aspect tires instead of 75?
-am I a bad enuff dude to cut my truck all to hell to "not rub" 285/17's?

    Those questions and more
    OR
you can either go with what will 100% work with no issues:
    265/70/17.

and all of this becomes another dimming block-spacer thread star amongst a million others in constellation tacomaworld™

When it's time, also thinking 285 or at least 275 with a lift eventually.
These 265 are great and all, but....... :) it's what we do I guess!!!! Lol...

If you're willing to put a block lift on your truck, spacers aren't gonna hurt - the blocks will be worse for your vehicle. Just make sure you torque 'em in the correct sequence and use extended lugs if you need to grab more threads. I have stock off road wheels and while I like the wheels they're an offset of +24mm. 0 offset SCS F5s will bring it flush with the fender which is perfect for me and they're light to boot!

And don't worry about the people bitching about doing what you want to your own truck, it's yours so enjoy it. However I suggest using google (Tacomaworld ____) next time, the TW search bar isn't as useful if you don't happen to word your search in the exact way someone else worded their title. Yes 285s will require cutting and a CMC unless you don't care about your tires rubbing. 275s will likely rub in full-stuff or wheel lock scenarios but on the daily you might not need to worry about it. That being said! the backspacing on those wheels is pretty deep. Most after market wheels I've seen near 0 offset are 4.5" or less backspacing and that .25" whether it seems like a lot or not is going to make a decent difference between your tire and your UCA and/or cab mount. 265/70s will not rub even with stock wheels and they look decent. You can find tons of these photos in various wheel/tire set up threads. Here's one with 20 pages of questions, input, photos regarding 265/70s and a small lift - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/265-70-17-with-1-5-to-2in-lift-pics-please.449869/

Here's a link to a guy installing wheel spacers on his truck albeit much wider spacers, he goes over Extended Thread lugs at 2:50 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38E96jIbuzw
    Here's a link to the big 255/80R17 thread with 20 pages - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/255-80-r17s-pizza-cutter-thread.525039/

Here's photos of my truck with stock wheels (+24offset, 5" backspacing) and 255/85R16s. They look narrow from head on with stock wheels but any other angle they look fine. They don't rub on the UCAs or cab mount.
