I feel like I am talking to a wall. I am not saying you should sell to unsuspecting people. I am saying your thread title is misleading

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
A RAV4, Stan. A RAV4? They should have just given you a bus ticket. The nerve

Not sure if it has the same motor but the Rav4 probably runs like a scalded dog with the 3.5L in it!

I'd ask for the sienna so I can fit all of the cow shit in the back I need for my raised bed garden project that's ongoing.

That's fine. I posted this leaving the dealer out of frustration.

And no, to be fair. There is ABSOLUTELY no way I can sell my truck at this moment because:

    a) my weeping diff constitutes that my truck is under the recall
    b) Toyota will no longer release the vehicle to me. (I was only able to get it out for a few hours earlier today because the SA didn't know the full extent of this recall)

Well A is a moot point because you can legally sell it, just cant sell it the way you want to. B is true but nobody can sell a truck they dont have possession of, that is nothing new. I understand being frustrated but you made it sound like you found out something new

And I totally understand from all practical purposes you are stuck, hopefully resolve comes soon and you can sell how you want

Thanks man! That's all I really wanted to do in the first place. I'm just a simple guy who took his truck for it's oil change before selling it to a dealer. which turned into this ordeal. if this was a few months back, no sweat. i'll take that RAV4 on an extended test drive.. Now, it's kind of a liability of what ifs. What if my truck gets damaged, what if a month from now, the values on the 3rd gen plummets? Again, bad timing.

That dream will be slowly slipping away when I get the truck back and now magically the trade in value is now 15K less because of this fiasco!

haha Toyota will find a way to screw you on the way out too!

so you already had a negotiated sale price to the Toyota dealer and they refused the sale based on the Recall not being done?

I'm very curious what legal basis they are using to hold your truck hostage. Something tells me that if you go to your local PD, explain that you took your truck in for an oil change and they won't give it back, you'll be driving that truck out in 30 minutes flat.

It's your property and they have no right to withhold it from you (unless there are unpaid bills or something along those lines).

Now, not being able to trade the truck in with outstanding recalls, that part I can understand.

Yes, and Yes. The price was set $30K.

They ran the vin, and the recall popped up. They called the service dept. (a few actually) and all said the same thing to the sales manager. No parts available and no ETA on fix.

So that smiling handshake went to "here's my business card, call us when the recall is done"

They did however say the deal still stands a week from now if I happen to get it taken care of, but after that - all bets are off.

I would say, legally I still have full right to my truck, and can probably argue and sign some release of liability papers to get it back, but for my intents and purposes. There's no use in me doing that. I'm trying to sell it. I'd rather be int he queue for the fix than to have the truck sit at home.

Yup. Have had four MB / BMW vehicles (five, if you count the 2009 BMW K1300S bike) immediately prior to the Taco. Loved them, but... to quote my BMW mechanic with 20-odd years of working on the things, "I would never, in a million years, own a new luxury German car outside of warranty."

Thanks. I've had good luck with my E46 M3, and E60 M5. The F80 M3/M4 has been holding up very well based on my research.

its very confusing because they are a Toyota dealer and can do the Recall work themselves when the parts come in, after they purchase the Truck? not having a recall notice done on a vehicle doesn't mean you cant buy or sell it,especially a Toyota dealer buying a Toyota product they are going to fix it either way why not go thru with the deal?
