Why? Think about it would you?

I take in a car that, I can't really sell until it gets repaired, and Toyota doesn't even have the plan/parts to repair. Meanwhile, that car is sitting on my lot, depreciating and maybe at some risk for an unspecified amount of time.

Am I going to do that?

Baiting him is grounds for the hammer FYI. The mods are cracking down on that pretty extensively.

I don't know, my truck came up on the recall list when I entered the VIN. I'm waiting for my 5k mile service since I see no signs of a leak and it's riding fine, but if they wanted to keep it and give me a rental for 30-60 days and let me save putting that 80 miles a day I put on it, I'll take it! Although when I go in, I expect they'll check the bolts and I'll be good to go.

I've got ~9500 miles on my OR. I've run my VIN and nothing shows, but do you think the service guys at Toyota will construe my rear diff as leaking?IMG_2040.jpg

    Wow TacomaWorld.
    There is not satisfying you.

Toyota realizes there is a problem, issues a no cost to customer recall- that has complexity sonos taking time to figure out.

Dealers don't want to trade or sell the vehicle till its properly dealt with. It's a safety f'ing recall, that's the responsible thing to do.

Sorry for the hassle, but consider the circumstances.

I miss my third gen in my driveway. It's so nice to have a truck even though, 99% of the time, I just commute on it.

Funny thing, I still have my Tacoma loaner from the service dept. Looking to make a few dump runs before I return it :)

My Tacoma was on the Recall list. I traded it in a week ago to get a Jeep. The paperwork showed the Tacoma had an open recall open on it. The dealer didn't seem to care what so ever. This may be an opportunity to get something different ::Cough Wrangler ::Cough :)

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I hope you won't have to change your user name to Failed_Twice. I do wish you the best of luck with the Jeep, though (I worry about weak Jeep transmissions and brakes but maybe they are ok). Good luck!

Anyone else noticed a huge change in thier book value for the taco? Mine was worth $21300 at the start of the recall and dropped to $18900 in 15 days or so. Its killing my options to trade it in cause I went from upside down 600 to like 2400 in 2 weeks.

I think a lot of dealers are wholesaling off their used 2016/17's, killing book value, rather than sit on them till the recall can be done. So they "could" buy them but why would they want to. Very frustrating for anyone who is wanting to trade or move out of state (In this case im both).

16's? You mean 17's. And I doubt they are selling them at cost.

I'm talking about used 2016/17 on their lot and trade ins. They are selling them off rather than sitting on them. Private party is selling much less number of vehicles (I assume) so book value is dropping due to dealers offloading used units under recall

They say that but they can buy it. We buy used vehicles with open recalls all the time but it needs to get completed at the brands dealer before we put them out for sale. They are wary of taking them in on trade since they might be sitting in them for a month or 2
