It's the Yakima Double Haul. It's heavy but I like the way it stores the rods and I've been super happy with it.

It's called service factoring. You can bet that Leer's and ARE's legal counsel and insurance company have both signed off on those bedcap roof weight ratings. Mainly because the required destructive testing proved the actual weight rating at least 2-3X higher than what they are going to allow it to be marketed as. As you said, because of liability.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I ordered the Leer 100XQ. With the auto-lock, rack tracks, I paid ~4500

That’s not far from what I paid for my ARE, it’s a ton of money but I guarantee you won’t regret it. It’s the most functional and purposeful part of my build.

Yeah, not cheap but prolly worth every penny. Cheaper now than it will be in a few months no doubt. Enjoy it and don't second-guess yourself too much.

Another thing to consider if you cant find a used one in the color you need, a repaint might be a viable option. A close friend of mine got a steal on an ARE one that was red and wrapped but had a white pickup, so the $700 he spent on a respray was more feasable then buying new.

Another vote for softopper. I don't have one on the Tacoma, yet. Have one on my other truck, for years off and on as needed, and it's great for me

best bet, like I said, found a deal on a used,,, but hindsight not sure if the 3.5 year wait was worth it.
Might as well get a new top for your new truck and enjoy!

One of the things I'd never do without now is the windoors. I didn't have them on any of my other shells but after the RSI I will never own another without them. Being able to access the shell easily from anywhere is 100% worth it.

I ordered a Leer 100XR today. Auto locks, bed rug, lights, sliding side windows, front pet window. Paid $3800. They told me 4-5 weeks

I just got mine but am loving it so far. I think it looks great, but more importantly, I have way more use for it compared to without.

I don't have a cement but I'm super glad I have a topper. I've put a sleep platform in it that I can take out, am able to carry my gear for work in the bed (covered & locked) so it doesn't sit in the cab with me, moved in to a house and surprisingly jammed a ton of shit in the bed even with a topper. I'd say do as much research as possible but it's worth it imo.

@chuam I have a topper for my longbed on the way and have this same Yakima Double Hall rod vault. Wondering if you could slide that vault forward to be more in line with the bumper of the truck. I’ve seen a few pics of the Yakima double haul on toppers and every one of them seems to have the vault set back this far. It seems like the way it attaches you can just slide it forward but maybe I’m missing something? o_O

17CC0BD3-8AA9-4637-873E-E2BF8EB5CDE7.jpg I really like the look, offset color just breaks it up good for me. I honestly don’t want it off anymore. You will like having options with it as well

It’s an ARE Z series with the OTR coating. Very happy with the fit, I’ve got a prinsu rack and gofsr tent on it now with no issues.

Nikod, what weight rating did the dealer tell you it would carry?
