Check facebook marketplace a couple times daily if you decide to get one. I got one used for my 3rd gen for $1200.

Ah, seems that nobody wants any liability issues with stating that. All I can find is it will hold whatever weight your load bars/roof rack is rated for. I bet if you asked the rack place they wouldn’t give you a number if they knew you had it mounted to a cap. With the tent/awning/rack I’m at just under #200, sleeping the two of us just under #500. I have yet to have an issue, running some rough trails. Bed supports installed.

that’s about what I paid here in Los Angeles.

$3200 OTD for a 100XR for a long bed with headliner, keyless entry, front removable slider, but Opted out of windoors. Shop told me 5 week lead time but they are seeing leer shipments come as soon as 3 weeks.

I like the soft foldable top. Used it many times as designed. For instance, fold top, crane in a large block engine for a machine shop, unfold cover and then drive through rain storm to engine shop.

Always have done toppers to secure tools and such. Waiting on a leer 180 with windoor sliders, rear drop down window, roof tracks, and a power block. At a cool 4,300.‍‍♂️

I'm debating if I should get it. Is it worth it? Is it easy to clean?

Mine is 15yrs old and not a hole in it. Super easy to clean, Just park on a slight slope and hose it out.

The problem is not being able to support the front half of the tubes. The way I have it now it's attached to the load bars with each half of the tube clamped. If I went further forward with it only the rear half would be clamped. With a 6' bed there would be less of an issue.

Thanks!! That actually makes a lot of sense. I guess my 4Runner crossbars we’re just further up into the mid section of the 4Runner so I never even noticed that the Yakima box was mounting to the front tubes and back tubes. When I put it on the 4Runner years ago it just seemed like it fit. This makes me think I need to mount the 54inch Yakima tracks a little farther forward on the topper so I don’t have the issue of the vault further off the back. I have a small garage so I think if I extended too far past the bumper I wouldn’t be able to fit! :anonymous:

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
How to you transport dogs back there in the summer? Now that we have two kids my back seat platform I built for the dog is no more, so if we want to bring him on trips he's going to have to go in a crate in the bed. But I'm concerned with him getting too hot back there.

I don't actually have dogs, but I do have a topper with sliding windows on the sides. They're marketed as sliding windows with "pet screens". So I'd say, so long as you're driving down the road with the windows open, they'd be getting some air. I probably wouldn't wanna just sit in traffic with them in 110 degree weather, but besides that, I think most dogs would probably be fine.

I imagine you could make a wind scoop with a pvc elbow and a piece of plexiglass to fit in the camper shell window. Or I was thinking of stuffing a piece of pipe insulation or pool noodle between the truck back window and the shell as a weather seal so you can open the window between the two, and use a fan to get some cool air into the back.
