I felt the same way about the hard shell, but I'm glad I pulled the trigger on one. Plus I can lock all my gears in the bed without worrying about someone taking them. 8BBBE1BF-5EE9-4D0E-9AF6-5E5D2C9053CD.jpg

AluCab all the way. Pictured here is one of the reasons I like it so much. All aluminum and plenty of creative ways to mount to the top on the outside and inside. I'm glad I'm not color matched, but that boils down to personal preference.

Have you decided on which topper you get?

Here is mine which is a Leer 100XQ

The factory rack up there is replaced with Prinsu rack which is on there now.. which you know this picture was taken before Prinsu rack installed.

    Prinsu rack installed on topper:

I’ve had a Leer 100XL on my old Sierra HD. It leaked like a MFer.

I had a Leer 100XL on my 2nd Gen Tacoma which never leaked.

I have a Snugtop Rebel in my 3rd Gen that doesn’t leak.

Toppers/shells are a necessary evil since I mostly need covered space for hauling.

Reviving this thread- can anyone speak to the leakiness of the windoors on the Leer 180/ARE MX?

Most of what I hear is going with the windoor option is a must-have but I also hear these can leak pretty badly. Love the thought of not having to jump inside to move gear around but will be using the topper mostly for sleeping in and there's nothing worse than a wet mattress.

    Any thoughts/opinions?

Also should note that either way I'll need the sliding window for puppy transport and general sleeping comfort in the summer time.

I could not decide on a topper. Eventually bought a soft topper and glad I did.

I had one window resealed by the topper shop. it helped a lot. When i drive through the touchless car wash now, I notice water comes in from the rear window hinge area but it seems like only when its high pressure spray.
