This has happened three times now....

    1995.5 2.7l DLX SC 4x4

I try and get up to speed on the highway and it will stop accelerating at 55/60mph. I can mash my foot to the floor and it won't climb in rpm or speed. It only lasts for maybe 30 to 45 seconds and then climbs like normal. It also only seems to happen close to start-up and only noticed it in 5th gear.....

    Thoughts?

change your fuel filter first before looking at anything else

It was changed less than 6 months ago and it's a PITA to get to. Any other suggestions.

well too late now but I have a relocation mod for your filter that makes it easy

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...diy-2-4l-2-7l-fuel-filter-relocation-mod.html

if the filter is ok then the tps tells it how much gas to send to the engine so maybe it is bad. if that checks out to be ok then it could be your fuel pump or the intake screen under it is blocked up.

to test that, get a pressure gage and check your fuel rail pressure to be sure the fuel supply is where it needs to be, if it is I would start thinking about the injectors.

When was last tune up ? plugs , wires ,throttle body and mass air flow cleaning etc etc
Have you ever scanned for codes? A faulty throttle position sensor will do as you describe but its better to scan the ecm rather than try guessing
