To be honest, I'm not sure whether or not I would have had to. It's my understanding that unless you make a problem known to the dealership, they won't actively search for a solution. When I mentioned it, the counter guy in the service dept. immediately mentioned the TSB.

I'm going to try this today. I always thought it was because with these transmissions these days and the way the computer wants to put you in 6th gear by the time you're doing 32.8956mph, that it was just in to high of a gear coming around the corner killing all power.

Mine was not up to date. My fluid was at the correct level though.

Thank you ever so much buddy!. Yes the tranny is up to full and the latest TSB was applied last month. Today I experienced the lag. Just once and the damn thing isn't consistent! You da man! Really haven't been good just leaving the ECT to see if the lag happens but I just feel a blog down when I apply the ECT? Right now with 1,800 miles on her I get 22 mpg! This is better than my Gen1 2002 SR5 AC 4x4. Still have her and have that old love affair with her but I love this new bride.

ECT actually feels a lot better for me. Its like how it should be. But that's just my experience with it.

I've experienced the delayed jerk after stomping on the pedal. Seems that the ECM is slow figuring out what to do when transitioning from closed (low RPM, low load) to open loop (high RPM, load) modes.

hi all ive got the same issues as well on my 17 4 cylinder automatic .Ive actualy have ben thinking about the sprint booster to maybe wake up the throttle response .Just hate the lag off the line I don't drive hard or fast just want to go when I hit that SKINNY pedal .Ive actualy almost got creamed twice at a very busy intersection. Took to my dealer and told me that the problem couldn't be duplicated and was sent on my way. If im driving at lets say 45 mph and hit the gas it goes but from a stop or a quick last minuete pull out it bogs kinda scary.

Yea Mike, it's not only scary but dangerous especially making a left hand turn against traffic. It's really a safety issue and until there's multiple accidents due to the lag, a 60 Minutes expose on CBS of why Toyota hasn't fixed it and a class action suit, best keep that ECT button engaged if it eliminates the lag.

Just keep this thread alive to warn new Taco owners of the safety issue folks.

If you're going heavy on the peddle around a corner in a Truck you're lag is from you're Traction control shutting you down keeping you're ass end from slideing out... Just shut off you're Traction control you're lag problems will be solved...

    Like, so many.
I really want an ECT "on as default" option.

Many vehicles have this. When I had an R1 it was called Yamalag. Our Subaru will do this too called Subalag. Looks like you have Yotalag

the button is on the ceiling above the rear view mirror in my OR, not sure if its in the same place on you're truck or on dash the button has a pic of a car on it with squiggly lines and says off, when stopped hold button in for more then 3 seconds to fully disable all controlls..
