I haven’t tried the seafoam stuff yet. Can you clean the charcoal filter?

I removed mine a long time ago, as it was crumbling apart. it is plastic stamped in, be careful to only break free the tiny little rivet looking tabs.
it is part of the emissions effort, but is pointless after so long and it does not look to be designed with replacement as a consideration.

best way to clean chemicals out of charcoal is with boiling water. this is not really feasible in the intake.

that 160k mi 18 year old activated carbon is not absorbing any emissions fumes anymore...

seafoam is not a miracle, but i have used it on thousands of vehicles and it definitely can clean old fuel filters and lines, carbs, etc a little bit.
just understand that seafoam or any cleaner can not do what mechanically cleaning will do. but for $10, it wont hurt and is worth trying.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Replace dry rotted vacuum lines, too.

I had a similar issue recently and it was the mass air flow sensor that went bad

Thank you. I cleaned mine and didn’t see much of a difference. I think I will just replace it and see if that helps
