Hey guys about a month ago I bought a 2010 Tacoma access cab, TRD off-road, 4x4 with 30k miles. It has a 2" lift kit on it with 33" MT's. I really like the truck but here lately I've noticed the truck has a slight hesitation or skip in it only when the truck's going 40mph and the RPM's are around 1,100-1,200. Does anyone know what this could be? I changed the air filter, I've always run 93 octane gas in it. It runs and drives perfectly aside from that, most of the time I can't even feel the transmission shift. I'm at a loss, can anyone help me?

Are you saying the engine is skipping? Like a misfire? Or are you feeling the transmission skipping?

I'm really not sure which it is, not sure if it's a misfire either. No CEL on or anything and the truck runs out perfectly at any other point. I'm not sure if the tires being oversized are just putting too much of a strain on it when the RPM's are that low or not. Like I said, trans shifts very well, and engine runs smooth. I'm not sure what could be causing a skip like that, it's not major, it just does it only at 40 mph and it's not extremely noticeable. I'm just OCD about my truck and I notice it and I'd rather fix it and it not do it anymore than to just let it go and it possibly get worse.

Is it a hesitation where you press the gas and nothing happens once your at that speed and try to accelerate? does it happen when slowing down and you get to 1100-1200 rpm?

since your lifted 2" could it be a vibe your feeling and mistaking it for a hesitaion? a lot of times lift vibes are only felt at certain speeds then go away after accelerating or decelerating.

It does it when my foot is on the gas, not much, but on the gas. Mostly when I'm going uphill and it's at the real low RPM's and at 40. It could be the lift or the tires (was leaning towards tires) but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a common problem for anyone or could've been mechanical.

Big diff between hesitation and a skip. I bet it's hesitation though. I notice mine does this sometimes when it's in between shift points. Might be your just being a little to easy on the throttle. Try being just a little bit more authoritative on the gas and see if it helps.

Yeah when I'm more authoritative with the gas it doesn't do it because it just shifts down, my concern is that a normal thing for it to be doing at those low RPM's?
