GM uses a wax coating like Amsoil MP HD or something along those lines. Looks good for a year or two then it's junk. Flakes if and rusts.

As mentioned there is rubber undercoat but same issue occurs. My parents bought new an 02 Tundra and 03 Sequoia. Both were coated by the dealer, both rotted to crap.

I highly recommend woolwax and fluid film as you know. Fluid film was created and used by the Navy.

The best possible thing you could do as a permanent type solution is strip everything off and galvanize the frame :D

Is the Fluid Film like... wet to the touch? Going to be doing some work to the vehicle this spring and don't want it to be a constant thing that's on my hands

Yup! Wear gloves lol. Practically bathe in it when I'm coating all the trucks. Finally got myself a one piece mechanics suit lol

ISO: reputable shop to do an ECGS clamshell bushing install locally.

Hey CT (and neighbors), as above, I’m looking for any insight into a local shop that’s done these installs specifically on third gens…though I guess it’s the same for 2nd gens too… I understand it’s not the most complicated thing to do at home provided you have the tools, but I’m not incredibly advanced when it comes to wrenching (installing my lift was the biggest feat to date), and I would prefer someone else with experience to do work like this.

Thanks in advance for any leads!

Thanks Mike! I realize I didn’t even introduce myself to the page before seeking help, pardon the transgression. I’m Joel, from central CT. Is Drew (are you, Drew) a friendly local gent or is there a shop I should be calling asking for @tacobell007 ??

Sweet, thanks. Happy to support local business/people when possible! As luck would have it I’m heading to my brother in laws wedding around 45 mins from the ECGS shop in NC this week. Going to pick up the bushing in person.

Sorry about that Joel, I should have given more info. Like what Bridge4 said, hes a friendly and knowledgeable local around w mass. He has done a handful of these for others on the forum. Im sure you can send him a pm, otherwise he will likely see the tags, and will chime in or send you a pm.

    Welcome to the forum!

Wowza, looks like I’m surrounded. I’m currently in Cromwell. Unrelated note: you guys have any luck with the tacoma wave? Seems like everyone I drive past in another truck is concentrating extremely hard on the road and not my friendly gestures . Thanks again folks! I’ll give Drew some time to respond for now.
