OK fellas so today's a very very good day, my plate bumpers are here!!! So begins the process of paint/bed liner I'm definitely going with the POR-15 as a base coat then bed liner for final finish. Hey @vssman where can I get the POR-15 locally? I know everyone is gonna want to see pics there coming soon I'm out and about now

 

Call Albert Kemperle on Meriden Ave in Wtby or Gary's Auto Parts on Watertown Ave Wtby. One of them will have it. Remember, don't take the lid off. Poke a hole in the top side of the can and pour a little off, then seal the hole with a sheet metal screw. Use gloves! You can't wash that stuff off your skin...

Thanks man ya Gary's had it, but damm this shit is $$$$ I got the 1 gallon and the 2 quarts of the metal prep and the cleaner- degreaser and it came to like 172$ Ouch... And did you apply it with a brush when you used it?

Only getting them next week, on Wednesday. They were just shipped to me yesterday. The guy that built them sent me the pics of them packed and ready to go.

I wish! There will be one thing missing that he ordered incorrectly, so re-ordered and having shipped to me. So once I get that then I can take a crack at installing them.

I am looking to buy a welder for truck projects but haven't taken my class yet. A good deal popped up on a 250 machine but I feel like a super noob and want some support.

Any takers?

MiG I assume? I run a Lincoln 135 SP+. Does just about everything I need. But it is weak for thicker stuff like 1/4". It supposedly will do it with multiple passes. When you say a 250, it it a 250 amp machine? If so, that's more than enough to weld anything you'll build for the truck. Come with a bottle too? You want gas for MiG. Yes there are flux core only machines (typically in low amp units) but they make a lot more work cleaning all of the spatter.

its a wire matic 255, which I believe said up to 250 amps in the manual, but I've read other 250 machines really just being 200 amps. Either way its going to be more than I'd need for the truck projects. It doesn't come with a bottle but I'd get one for this if I go for it.

I'm signing up for a mig welding class outside of Boston, but at the moment I have zero seat time, so Id just want a pal to come check it out with me. If I had taken the class already I'd go down there solo.

I think he does some. He may be familiar with the machines too. I am not totally sure though.
