Hello fellow CT folks.. are there any tradesmen in here that would be willing to give me some "life guidance" on a potential career change? I'm 30 years old and have an office job that I completely hate. I have always loved working with my hands and cannot look at a computer screen any longer. If I get one response on this I'll be happy! Let me know...

Take the jump, depending on which trade caught your eye life can be very nice! It comes with it's ups and downs but so does every career, it's all in what you put into it!

Totally depends on what your strengths are HVAC, electrical, believe it or not specialized sewer work has done me well over the years, most important thing is figuring out which one will keep your interest and you can continue to grow and learn. Also trying some out for a few months or years is a great way to build outside the box thinking skills, no job has to be your forever job and just because you like leisurely sanding on a Saturday doesn't mean you will 40-60 hours week. I've always tried to get my hands in everything so I would learn more and be more useful on the job and also so I could go where ever I wanted if I didn't like where I was at!

Join a union,,,plumbers and pipe fitters are always busy, carpenters or if you have no skills and don't really care to learn you can be a laborer. Hindsight I would have been a laborer.

You could become a union driver at UPS. Nice benefits & compensation after a few years. Spend your days picking up & putting down & avoiding sleeping drivers & running running running.
I've a friend who installs computer hardware - servers & such. Used to be an installer running all over the country, now writes the programs to make it all work & runs around installing. Never home, endless travel, can work from anyplace when not at a location install. That might be something that could work for you, combine the skills you have with something that has a manual labor segment. That would let you do something new without starting over.

I still need to do my lower control arm on the drivers side. Are your bolts frozen like mine?

I guess it’s time to butcher the harness. I’m cutting off the connectors with a portion of the wire so if I or anybody else needs something.
