Hey Connecticut, our everything hurts

The Tacoma is back up and running. Brought the battery in to get tested and it was confirmed to be good. While reinstalling it I saw a good amount of corrosion and crud on the truck side terminal clamps. Hard to believe that would have caused it, and that I didn’t clean them up good enough a couple months ago when I initially installed the battery, but it seems to have done the job.

 

Oh that will do it. Especially in the cold when the battery is already under stress.

Idk, if cold is worse than being too hot for a battery being under stress, but either will shorten a batteries life.

 

Good question as I've never lived in a hot climate, but agreed neither is best for the battery.

The crap on the terminals is one thing and will be a parasite, but I suspect it was there a while and didn't rear its head until the additional stress of the weather..

 

So after some math based on my gas purchase records I've driven my truck 3,264 miles this year

 

I used to drive that in a month lol, I probably still do just not on the truck anymore

I've ordered so many parts for cars at work yesterday that you'd think I was a parts changer.
I'll be busy today and tomorrow so that's good.

 

Those are some of the worst. We had one yesterday that her husband (on speaker phone) said oil changes are every 5,000 miles. The service writer corrected him (his model is every 10,000).

 

I'm still looking at the one car from last week about a no start. Now that I got (most of) the story. Got another no start come into the shop yesterday, LX470.
Needs a battery, alternator and power steering pump. The pump leaked into the alternator causing it not to charge which killed the battery. The cold didn't help.

My wifes subaru dealership hates me. One of the service managers referred to me as the “know it all asshole”; i was outside at the time and they didnt see my wife in the office. After a conversation about the oil consumption recall on outbacks. Ours burns a quart every 2500 miles.

 

I walk into the parts department and there is a plate of Jamaican rum cake. Good way to start the day.
