How you been doing with your back?

 

Still kinda messed up a bit. Definitely not as bad though.

Some days feels better than others. Still feel a little "tightness" around my buttcheek area when I do certain things or move a certain way. Been gong to the chiro every week, and taking what you recommended. Also try not to sit for too long and move around, and stretch. And definitely try to be careful when I have to bend down and/or lift stuff.

 

Based on tightness in that area it sounds like you need to be consistent in doing piriformis stretch

I was making the bed this morning, bent down a bit and felt something, again.

I hate my fucking life. I really do. No matter what I do, how careful I am, something always happens and it keeps coming back and it hasn't even really gone away since I hurt it and went through the MRI bullshit.

I'm at the point that I'm literally afraid to bend down even if it's just to grab something. I can't live the rest of my life like this. I can't.

 

I've been where you are at. I thought I'd have to give up riding my bike, going to the gym, or leading a normal life. If my orthopedic said he wanted to operate I'd have agreed without hesitation. I stuck with my rehab program and made it a normal part of my daily routine.

Now I lead a normal active life with no issue. Did I make some changes, sure. No more deadlifts, no more hang cleans at the gym...I stay away from high axial loads. But I'm still active, work in the yard, lift bags of fertilizer, shovel what needs to be shoveled, etc. Last night I did trail maintenance with my volunteer group and shoveled stone dust for an hour. I'm just careful.

If your orthopedic or physical therapist or chiropractor isn't helping you...find a different medical team. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE THIS WAY. I got better, my brother got better, my friends have gotten better...and we're all a lot older than you (FML). Get the right plan, stick with it, and you'll live the life you want. Don't hesitate to call me if you want to talk about this.

I'm on day 7 of my "Friday". I am bringing the truck into work tomorrow and cutting off the drum. Even if I don't do the brakes or axle seal, the drum will be coming off.

 

Clarification from my CT friends. I can’t take a trailer on route 15/Merritt Parkway correct? We bought an outdoor patio set today and I need to go back down to Hamden, CT for pickup tomorrow. Of course the store is directly off 15.

I think by those rules my RV with "historic" plates would be allowed if I removed the roof a/c. Too funny.

@Cativelense , I missed a day of work this week because of my back - 'gardening accident' on Sunday. I had a rapid compression event to the spine, today is the first day I'm walking almost normally, still not using a regular chair at my desk, getting up & walking every 30 minutes... I found a "wobble stool" allows me to sit 'comfortably' for the longest duration.

One big thing Nuno in case you don't know - do not bend at the waist. Keep your back straight & squat down using your knees, legs, hips. Squat, don't bend.
