    Back at it.

Another issue is the axle nut. I can’t install the cotter pin with the aftermarket nuts and torqued to spec. I was able to make do with what I have. Ordered two new nuts from work.

New axles, hubs/bearings, rotors, JBA upper control arms, new rear pads for the leaf springs (needed 10, only had 8). Cut one U-bolt and chamfered the end (more to do but cutting one took a while).
Do have a small squeak (rotor hitting dust shield ). I'll look at that on Monday. Hopefully my axle nuts show up on Monday but I'm thinking Tuesday.
I used the old center caps until the new nuts show up and I know what the squeak is.

Truck is so quiet now. Alignment is slightly off, thought it was going to be.

Next on the docket is ARK splash shields, new front shocks, new calipers, cut the rest of the U-bolts and the two remaining leaf spring pads.

Can one of you Tacoma experts tell me the difference between the two Bilstein front shocks that I'm seeing?

    24-324359

    or

    24-239370

I have the 239370 in there now according to the invoice from HeadStrong Off Road.

I believe that both of them are the same size, but one is made for the second gen and one is made for the third gen. They are interchangeable between the two of them, but they just have different notch settings. You have the latest version. It'll fit fine.

Thanks. I'll be sure to order the same one I have. Where I have it now, the truck is ever so slightly higher in the front. That will change with a bumper and winch.

    Good morning CT.

It's nice driving a truck that doesn't squeak and clunk over every bump. I'll take a ride this morning to figure out the high pitched noise. I'm hoping it's just the rotor dust shield and not the new bearing I just installed. It comes and goes. I may have to drive it on the lift to see what it is. That will have to wait until Monday. I also think I need to grease the front ball joints more (didn't look like the rubber boot filled with grease).

Narrowed down the source of the squeak. It’s brake related.

    Happy Monday.

Can't wait to bring my truck in the shop and see what the hell the squeak is. Picked up food last night, drove with the window open and holy hell!
