Hey Connecticut, our everything hurts

Power company came and fixed it this morning to my surprise. Problem is internet. Phone line is down, can't come out until Wednesday. Guess it could be worse.

 

I've been in my house almost 20 years and I have had almost all the big trees that can do damage to the house removed.
I have one left, a 70 foot Black Gum tree about 50 feet from the house.
This one will go next and that should be it.
I planted several pear, plum, apple and peach trees since I've been here.
Easy to prune and maintain.

Your neighbor is lucky, could have been MUCh worse.
First thing I did after moving in was cut down a bunch of 2 story saplings around the house before they became trees. Any tree that can fall on the house is unwelcome on my property.

Came in to work a bit late this morning because my son's daycare does a little something f=for the parents, so hung out with my fireman for a little while.

 

I have a Honda 5500watt generator with a disconnect panel that I plug directly into. I can run the whole house minus the electric Stove and air conditioning .
Draws 3500 watts if I decide to run everything at once but in reality we can use the micro wave TV radio and go into survival mode with plenty of reserve power.If I need to cook I have a couple of Coleman stoves to cook outside if needed
5 gal tank 12-16 hrs per tank if used at a minimum but at least the furnace in the winter . Wife has health issues so a generator is mandatory.
Down side is storing extra gas in the shed

Too much power! Ha, nah it works well but I think an expensive rebuild might be due coming up soon. Would love to upgrade to a URD 7th injector kit. Just debating some possibilities.

Yea good thing I put the saw in the truck this weekend. 11:30 at night Sunday I had to cut my way through Redding to get to the fire station for burning wires in the woods. A CT transit bus was stopped by the mess on the road and 10 guys got off to haul brush for me while I cut the road open so that was convenient.

All that water coming down and I noticed some roof issues as well. Spent Tuesday morning with a bucket of roof cement and some new screws on the ridge vent. Hoping that will do it for now. Next spring might be due for a vinyl ridge vent, the aluminum one is shit.

Still no internet since the storm... Fucking frontier sucks ass. Made an appointment on Monday, for Wednesday since that was the earliest they could come out, to put the phone line back up. Not fixed. No call. Nothing. Take it up with them and they say they called my wife since she's the one that made the appointment and gave them her info. She has no missed calls from anyone. What the fuck! They really suck service wise. Ever since AT&T left and handed it over to them it's been nothing but problems. I need to find a different provider. They told me I have to reschedule... At that rate I'll be without service for over a week by the time they come out, IF they even come out and don't do the same bullshit they did yesterday.

I'm so fucking pissed.
