Hey Connecticut, our everything hurts

Morning all...

 

Had to go to Mavis again this morning for a re-alignment. I kept having to keep the wheel turned to the right to keep the truck driving straight. Mavis said everything was fine. But I still have to keep it more to the right than it was before. Anyone else have this problem? Oh and as I was driving to work the low air sensor went on

 

DANG MAN. That sucks right there. My TPMS sensor has been coming on and off ever since I got my winter tires put on. Don't really care right now since we're so close to spring, and I'll get my wheels swapped again.

Your steering thing though... yeah, I have no clue what's going on there. Maybe steering rack issue?!

 

Check and reset your tire pressures (make sure you don't have a leak). This could cause the pull in the front end....

Not so sure about these Mavis places ... everyone that uses them seems to have issues with their work...!!

 

I dont know. Gonna bring it back tomorrow and they're going to check it out. All the tires still have air. If they cant figure it out im gonna take it to toyota.

 

Yes, i had the same problem when i got my new tires, the alignment is just off, even if they are telling you its good. Aparently theres an easy way to do an alignment and a hard way. If they take the easy way out, they dont worry about keeping the wheel straight during the alignment. This means the alignnent is good and within spec, but the steering wheel will not be straight when you are driving straight. I brought mine back and the problem was fixed with a new alignment

Fucked up. Go back and make them do it again, and see if you can watch them do it.

 

The other thing that could be a problem other than the alignment even though they are new Wheels tires Etc the tire itself might be the size you require but it might be slightly larger or slightly smaller in overall diameter compared to the left front or the right front the easy way out swap one of the back ones from the same side to the front and then go from there could be nothing more than a tire that is slightly bigger outside dia. or needs to do with playing with inflation pressures

I think you're all over thinking this. The tires being in alignment have no affect on your steering wheel being straight. They are independent. You should be able to have them adjust the drag link to straighten your steering wheel

 

There's no drag link. Adjustment is done entirely via outer tie rod ends. But you are correct theres no reason they shouldn't be able to get the alignment and steering wheel straight. Chances are it's the guys who did the alignment. I had a similar problem at the toyota dealership. They swore up and down that there was something wrong cause there was no possible to get the steering wheel straight. Took it to a local shop and the had it done in like 30 minutes. Local shop said they had issues and didn't see where the dealer thought there was a problem.

 

I know a good weld shop in bethel I have used. Don’t know if that’s too far out of your way. They don’t do vehicles specifically but if you show them a photo they will make it. Might not be your cheapest option though.

I have fab shop that we use for our home building but they aren’t truck saavy as well :/ wanted a place locally that would fab and install

 

I actually reached out to him! Downside His shop is 3-1/2 hours away wanted to see if there’s something closer- his prices are awesome!

 

How did you make ououwith out with the alignment @dcorbalis?
