Wonder if your drive shaft lost a weight...

 

Who knows what's going on with it. Need to go somewhere and ask them to check EVERYTHING.

 

Bear Mountain Oktoberfest meetup is tomorrow. Meetup is in a parking lot next to the Mobil gas station at 1145 then we convoy over to the festival. Gas station address is 98 Hook Rd, Peekskill, NY. There is Dunkin Donuts if you want to get coffee. Festival starts at 12 but the bands don't start until 12:30.

Naw... Don't think that's it. Was already doing it before I put the Pro suspension on, and replaced the bearing with the ECGS while I was at it.

Is the vibration coming through the steering wheel, seat, or both equally? If it's one or the other, take the tires and swap them front to back to see if the vibration comes from elsewhere. Otherwise it's most likely the driveshaft - carrier bearing, Ujoint, or a tossed weight. Get under there and look for an outline of a piece of metal missing toward one end of the shaft near the joints or bearing. The weights are typically about 1/2" to 3/4" wide by maybe 1" long and are spot welded to the driveshaft.

 

Comes through all of the above, and only once I hit about 50mph or so and higher. Steering wheel shakes, seat feels like it's shaking... Heck, the whole truck feels like it's shaking. Already had tires balanced and rotated a few times, they say all is good. Been doing it since before the Pro suspension, and also did it with the TRD sport rims & winter tires combo.

I had a similar issue like your having with my 98 Ranger.
Goodyear Wrangler tires.
Balanced perfect.
Vibration at 50+ MPH.
Turns out a tire had a belt seperate .
Replaced all tires, problem solved

It does it with my winter tires as well, so I don't think that would be it... It'd be too weird of a coincidence to do it on both sets of tires. The tire shop said my tires spun true and were fine.

 

Sounds like a driveline issue if it does it with multiple tires.

 

Starting to sound like it based on what you asked, and what you mentioned to check for. I didn't get a chance to crawl under today and check, and not sure when I'll have a chance to do it in the daylight... But if that's what it is, how expensive of a fix do you think it'll be?

 

I think they’re pretty reasonable. Had my truck for a whole day fixing all kinds of shit and it came to $800 - Brakes, oil change, tires rotated, front diff locker removed and bulletproofed, new shocks installed.

Also following the above comments, there is a Ujoint recall out there.

That's a good question. I imagine your having someone else do it. Fleet pride services driveshafts and balances them but it has to be taken to them. I'd guess at least a few hundred.

 

Yeah... No way my non mechanically inclined self would be doing something like this, if that's what the problem is, or something else for that matter. Guess I need to make plans to take it to the stealership for the day, or somewhere else, and have it all checked out. Problem is that with work and dropping the kid off at daycare it becomes challenging, and have to make plans with people to pick me up and drop me off. And that's with hoping that they find the problem and can fix it the same day.

Would a loaner from the dealership help? You'd probably have to figure out how to get the kids to daycare due to the car seat issue. If a weight came off the driveshaft, figure a couple of days for it to be rebalanced.
