Naw... that was the underside of the bed. Where the bolts attach to the bed.

 

I went to my buddies house today ,he's rebuilding a transmission for me for my Moto Guzzi 5 speed, and found out that the bearings that are , on the layshaft actually have a plastic cage, it turns out that using synthetic gear oil in this application basically dissolves the plastic cage , and the ball bearings are falling out, "insert laugh here loose balls" so we were discussing what direction I wanted to go ,and we found a bearing site that has bearings without the nylon cage ,that we're going to use ,so just FYI if you have any application with caged bearings, in this case ball bearings that have a plastic cage you may want to stay away from using synthetic gear oil at least and this application.

I would figure ball bearings traveling at a high rate of speed would melt the plastic cage regardless of any oil.
It sounds more like a design flaw.
Metal rubbing on plastic is never a good thing, especially a bearing housing.

Yea it doesn't make since but in the age of the bikes involved we also have to be careful of what gear lubes we use because of YELLOW metals. Some gear oils are not very friendly to Yellow metals and certain types of shims and in this case ,and in this case Nylon cages in bearings, so Synthetic gear oils that are spec'd become a crap shoot.

This transmission has only 28000 miles but it decided to loose its balls, (laugh here) , but when this is sorted out it will be a great replacement. If I decide to sell it will be worth more $$$ and people in our motorcycle world know the guy that's rebuilding it and know me very well so they know if we say what was done there isn't any questions, in this case reputations are well made and respected.

For a glass is half full approach, 2nd Monday can be hump day eve.

 

That's what I'll start calling it from now on then. LOL

Our lovely systems at work seem to be having an off day; seems to be happening more often than not lately. But our production goals don’t change...

Counting my days till time off next month; spending a couple days in the white mountains with the wife.

So far, not a good day at work.

Was pointed out two mistakes made while covering for my co-worker during the Christmas break, while he was off for two weeks.

First one, co-worker said it was no biggie and he was able to sort it out, and there wasn't any need to get our supervisor involved. Told him he could have said something to her, that I didn't mind, but he said there was no need and we're only human. Kinda wishing he did, or would have said something, that way I could "argue" the fact that one person doing a two person job is no bueno.

We'll see what happens with the second mistake that was just pointed out.

I just want to go home...

 

I was told at work today that I work too much by my supervisor.
I told him isn't that what I'm paid to do?
He said yes but your just non-stop.
I said so do you want me to take breaks more?
He said no but I should calm down a bit.
I literally laughed in his face and walked away.
Apparently people are jealous, nervous, can't keep up with me, I don't know but I don't care.
It's not my fault that I go to work to actually work.
Maybe if the ones who apparently have a problem with this actually worked instead of bullshiting all day... maybe they wouldnt have a problem with the way I role.
I'm actually going in tomorrow and telling my supervisor that if you have or anyone else has a problem with the way I work...fire me.

I know what your feeling.

It used to be work hard and you'll go places, now it just gets critiqued for doing what your getting paid to do,

if the others are making the same as you and doing less work than you, your being taken advantage of. Been there done that.

It may not be in your nature of how you operate but let the work back up a little and see if your super gets the others moving--That's his responsibility if he cant get them moving then he's overpaid for not doing his job and the others are taking their lead from him.

But in the end you can go home with a clear conscience that you did your job .
