Call Big Boys Toys in Pomfret. He's got all sorts of mowers. Ask for John and tell him a teammate of his referred you. He's not the owner, so I'm not sure exactly how much leeway he has, but it's worth a shot. He may have something out on the lot

Just jumping into this conversation, too lazy to read back... if you're looking for a new mower - I found a company in Bridgeport offering 0% financing for I think it's 52 months... $4000.00, 48" Bobcat walk behind, STIHL weedwacker and STIHL BR600.

 

Meh... not a fan of Bobcat to be honest. But thanks for the info!

Nope... Not a big fan of Scag to be honest with you. My buddy has a Scag Turf Tiger rider, don't like it one bit. Tried it a few times, thought I was going to kill myself. I'm a walk behind guy, and I LOVE Exmark because we used to have one when we cut grass together on the weekends, and fell in love with the way it cut and worked. But then we stopped because we had kids, and he sold the machine to a guy that had been asking to buy it for a long time.

 

Hopefully think link works... This is in the next town over from where my sister and bro in law live, who just happen to be coming down this weekend for my son's birthday party, who just happens (my bro in law) to own a 2013 F150 XLT Supercab truck...

 

Whats wrong with scag? Had a 48 inch WB for a while and now have a 61inch V-ride for the past 3 years. They don't give me any trouble! Brother runs a big landscaping company, runs mostly scags and a few Walkers. Been in business 10 years or so.

@Cativelense you need to get used to the speed! Although tbh, I've never rode a modern zero turn in about maybe 10 years so I have no idea how those are. But been very happy with my scag stuff.

Scag velocity deck and John Deere 7-iron are the only decks worth a **** in the mower game IMO.

p.s. not taking any of this personal, just looking to stir it up a bit now that my afternoon is slowing down!

 

LOL!!!! The few times I hopped on my friends rider, to move it from the shed to the trailer and vice versa, I nearly killed myself with it. The control levers are super sensitive, that I was flying at the slightest touch.

 

Yeah that makes sense! They mow at like 11mph. You can wheelie them too, at least our old JD when I was in H.S. would It always pays to drive a mower around a bit, or mow some lawns you don't care about first to get used to them When I worked for my brother he made me mow a field we have like 3 times perfectly before he let me out in the wild. Steep learning curve and that was just with a walk behind. They didn't let me even look at the sulky until a few weeks into the job!

Also, that exmark looks nice, and like the guy kept it in good shape. Should be a good pick-up if its still there for ya this weekend!

 

OMG, the sulky!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's another "deadly" instrument. Those things take some getting used to.

Towards the end of my "mowing career", my buddy picked up something called a "pro slide" to replace the crappy sulky I was using. That took some MAJOR getting used to. It's basically something that slides on the ground, literally. Feel every little bump. I nearly killed myself on that thing the first time I tried it.

 

I've never used one of those but seen them online. Maybe make sure you have insurance before you start doing the whole neighborhoods lawn lol

 

I'm only doing mine, the guy across the street (for now, until he sells the house), and my friend's. Well, going to be doing my father in law's as well once they go to Portugal for the entire summer, come July 1st.

Man... now that I type that out, looks like I am a small time landscaper.
