Afternoon all. Made a run to URI to move my daughter out of the dorm. Classes will be online for the rest of the semester and she needed to go back there to get her stuff. Not much traffic on 95.

This afternoon we put my dog out as usual, and because we were doing some stuff outside.

He was literally out there for 15 minutes and got 4 fucking ticks. FML!

Can't wait for the yard to be sprayed.

 

Yup, ours had one earlier in the week. We put some drops on her to kill them. It’s that time of year again.

Speak for yourself I go to an essential job & when I finish I go to another essential job. I even got a note today identifying me as an essential employee of an essential business. Still, better than not working. I worry for my friend who works 2 non-essential jobs.

I think the numbers are going to keep increasing regardless of people doing shit they shouldn't be doing or not.

Reason is, up until everything started being nearly mandated to be closed and/or people staying home, people were still trying to live a normal life, which means being exposed to people that likely weren't showing symptoms before, and are now. Also, as more tests are available and more and more people start showing some sort of symptom, and doctors hopefully acting on the side of caution and telling me that they need to get tested, the numbers are bound to go up.

Honestly, it's a bit scary, but not surprising. Not to me at least. Maybe I'm not interpreting the situation correctly for the increase, but that's my opinion and take on it.

But yes, people need to stop being stupid and start being responsible and follow the guidelines, so that this shit eventually slows down and can be under control. Because until that happens, nothing is gonna go back to normal unfortunately.

As I watched a mommy with 2 toddlers leaving the mommy with 2 toddlers a couple houses away after a play date a few minutes ago.
WTF.

 

This is going to go through and at least get most places. The thing is some people only have very mild symptoms and don't even know they have it. I don't know if you listened to The Gov of NY's conference today, but he mentions he thinks theres a large population like that out there.

The idea is to slow down the peak, so we can treat it with the supplies we have, and not be over whelmed all at once. We have enough stuff now, they are worried about in a few weeks. But I think people are going to go back to work in about 2-3 weeks and just the compromised and older will be told to still stay away. That seems to be the direction most pols are moving in right now.

 

Although the virus is nasty and very contagious, so far the numbers don't add up to a catastrophic apocalypse that the mainstream media portrays. However, the economic consequences of these reflexic quarantine policies will most definitely cause more harm and suffering for MILLIONS of Americans if it continues indefinitely as many are suggesting.

Every Year in the US alone (using 2018 numbers) there are over 35 million influenza infections with 500,000 hospitalizations and 34,000 deaths. So far there are 52,000 COVID-19 infections and 685 deaths in the US.

685 COVID-19 deaths out of 350 million people in our great nation!! Do you know that 1.25 million people every year & 3200 people per day die in car accidents?? Let's keep this "pandemic" in perspective please.

FACT: OVER 98% of patients infected with this virus will not become seriously ill despite what the media portrays. Many may not even have symptoms or display mild symptoms. By far, this virus effects the elderly and chronically ill.

Testing is going to be the key. Identifying the infected and having high risk patients tested/quarantined will allow the general public to go back to work.

There are many politicians who create fear/panic in order to achieve their agendas. The Left loves to breed "learned helplessness" and "dependence on our government" to solve our problems. We live in a democratic society so please educate yourself and make your opinion known because we need to honestly assess and debate the policies at hand before there is irreversible hardship!!

And another thing... This whole "hygiene" thing that they are preaching... Who the fuck didn't do that already during the winter months because of colds and flu??????? Only idiots don't take those percausions already. Seriously!

 

The Governor has announced the early opening of inland fishing season:
"2. Early Opening of Fishing Season. Notwithstanding Section 26-112 of the Connecticut General Statutes and any associated regulations, effective immediately and through the remainder of the 2020 fishing season, unless earlier modified or terminated by the Commissioner of Energy and Environmental Protection, there is no closed season for fishing in the inland waters of Connecticut. The Commissioner of Energy and Environmental Protection may extend or modify the open seasons for inland waters fishing without notice and public hearing and issue any implementing orders she deems necessary consistent with this order. All other regulations for fishing, including, but not limited to, licensing, stamps, methods, catch-and-release areas, creel limits and length limits shall remain in effect. Anglers shall practice social distancing measures, such as remaining six feet apart."
