Yeah... I know, but the Mrs wasn't up for the price tag yet.

After we screw all of the boards into place, gonna give it all a good power wash, and then water seal and paint.

 

Not sure what your price is for both..For the application I'd have been a fool not to go Trex since I am in a high water area so it would be likely to rot quicker.

 

Trex is nice, but does get soft in high heat. have to give it extra support. Don't generally see high heels around a pool, but you do on a porch. Had a Trex deck - after a party, had all these little divots... the ladies had worn heels. :-(

 

??? If you water seal, how will the paint soak into the wood?

 

I've banned high heels from my pool deck completely, can't risk someone getting in the pool and ripping the liner.

 

Not sure to be honest. Gonna have to look into that a bit more I guess then. LOL

 

I did some spot priming and painting on the porch. Came up a year later. The Benji Moore paint guy told me some stuff I forget, but the short was sand my decking until a drop of water soaks into it. if it beads, sand some more. You want the wood to 'drink' the paint.

 

I might leave the painting to an "expert". The Mrs knows of someone that we already used once, through her best friend, so we might use him again. He did a great job with what we had him do before.

 

So did some late day modding...then some errands then back for some "Midnight Modding" in the front yard...

Today's weather was amazing. I couldn't pass up the chance on my day off.

Some much needed spring cleaning. Get all of the road grime and extra stuff off.

A couple coats of mother's cleaner wax to get her really clean with rain-x glass and raix-x plastic treatment for the headlights,fog,tails light. Let's see how long she will stay clean for.

 

Looks killer..what did you use on the tires?

 

I hate the stuff probably as much as you seem to like it! My parents had it on a deck and have had to totally redo it twice, it would warp, or certain sections fail etc.. I think they might make better stuff now than when it first came out, but that was enough for me. It also doesn't fit on a lot of older houses or certain style houses imo. Plastic just doesn't match wood.


IMO, if you wanna "buy once, cry once" use teak or ipe. Just throw some oil on it if you want, or pressure spray it and its back to new.
