I forgot to ask, you work in branford or north branford? There is always a silver double cab with aftermarket wheels parked behind the library in branford.

Ok guys, I need some advice from those that have changed wheels. I'm looking at new wheels that are 16X8 with 4.5" backspace and 0 offset. These will be my summer tires. I'd like to fit 265/75-16 tires on them as that's what I'm running for snows on my steelies. I've read the stickies and did a few calculations and it seems they may not fit without removing the flaps. I'd like to keep those in order to help knock down the liquid rust spray that the DOT is using. I guess what I'm trying to figure out is how far will the new wheels move out compared to the steel wheels. Then I can calculate the turning circle that the new wheel will make and see if it'll hit the plastic. Of course this can easily be remedied by a 3" lift but that would absolutely require sliders, ARB bumper, a nice stout rear bumper, winch and maybe a roof basket too...

Thanks Evan, for 1.25" out, I'm pretty sure they'll rub the flaps where they bulge in to the wheel well. I could (don't really want to) put the stock 245s on the new wheels until I figure out what trimming/lifting is needed for a taller tire.

To give more clarity, I ended up removing the mudflaps and then having to trim the square-ish tab that hangs down from the front of the wheel wells on both sides. I also had to trim the vent looking piece on the passenger side fender well as the knobs would catch on that in reverse.

I will also echo Evan in saying the tries will stick out roughly 1.25". It also causes a lot of crap to kick up and "roost" if you will on the body panels.

Lastly, I did end up lifting the truck and that does however resolve any issues of rubbing.

Heres a pic of mine with the 16x8 in wheels and a 3 in lift. You can see how there is nothing hanging below the front wheel well vs the pic in my sig.
