A lot of it is based on interior color and truck color. If your interior is a light grey or tan go 20% to match for sure. I’d personally go 20% to match no matter what. I’ve lucked out and never been pulled over for tints though

I had the windows tinted dark when I was in FL. I said "whatever is 50 state legal" when he asked me how dark. I was in my 5th state in 7 years... 1 year later when I moved from FL to NY - surprise, they were too dark. So when I went in for inspection I had both windows down. Whenever I got pulled over I had both windows down before the trooper got to the car & at night I had the interior lights on too. So I never had "an issue" in New England with over tinted windows. Sold that vehicle to a buddy in NJ who immediately failed inspection for those windows. He ended up swapping in a spare set of untinted front windows he had every 2 years for inspection. So depends where you are. You can probably just remember to lower the windows & be fine.

Let me say, you get a multiplier effect, the more windows tinted, the less dark your tint needs to be.
Also, if you're getting a bit older.... ahem, and you drive at night - less tint is better. It gets harder to see through tinted windows at night moreso every year. :anonymous:

When I lived in NV, there was a new RX-7 someone had & they tinted the bottom 1/2 of the windshield & had the bottom 1/2 of the side windows done, but had it curve up at the back edge of the doors. Looked like the cockpit of a jet - loved that end result & driver could see over the side window tint.

Also - if heat is an issue, They do a clear ceramic tint for the front windshield. It is clear to see through, but reflects the heat out of the vehicle. Popular option in the south.

    Sorry, wanna vent. <rant on>
If I pay a professional to do a job - do it right.
Took the Tundra in for it's 3pm alignment appt. Did some add on's - said if the right rear is low it has a leak. it was & they remounted the tire - corrosion. had them do an oil change because the car's oil change light came on. I drive them about equal so when the light comes on in the car I change both. So I did add stuff, but tire rotation & repair were going on at the same time as oil drain & fill. When it took the guy almost 30 minutes to rehang the skid plate.... Two hooks in the front, two bolts at the back, WTF?
Seemed like he was rushing the alignment as it didn't get on the alignment station until 4:40 & closing is 5pm.
Get'erback at 5:05 &... "coolant was VERY low, topped it off for you & the washer fluid". Truck came off the rack right at 5pm.
I looked it over before leaving - everything looked okay down under. Inside the fuse panel cover was dangling. ???? Another customer came back in saying her door panel wasn't attached. ???? Under the hood things were messy, but okay. Spilled the washer fluid, spilled the coolant. Something wet on the battery - probably coolant.
BUT, my Tundra uses red Toyota coolant & that is what's in the system. Looking at my overflow tank, it's full of over thinned green Prestone. Suddenly "watch your coolant" went to you need to do a cooling system job. going to have to drain & flush & fill, but going to have to do a pressure test too. Depending on how that goes ($, $$, $$$) the Tacoma is going to have to be on hold. Again.
He couldn't have just used the red stuff that goes into Toyota's?

You know, a lift is only ~2 grand. I seriously think that would be cheaper than cleaning up after all the hack mechanics in this town. I'm going to have to get a quote in the spring to raise the garage roof (actually a simple job for my garage) to accommodate a lift/the RV. ...But I don't want to be a mechanic. Once again, leasing sounds attractive
    Okay, <rant off>
    The alignment feels real good.

    Good Weekend everyone.

Breakfast Taco, we all feel for you and understand your frustration. It's difficult when you are conscientious and can't depend on others to be the same.

Don't come to Danbury then. 10 years & I've yet to find quality. Best I've found in this town is stand up to their mistake.

This shit right here is why I wrench on my own stuff if at all possible. I don't often feel like doing the work, but it's inconvenient to bring it somewhere, and then they so often don't do the work correctly.
