Daughter teaches H.S in Western Mass and almost on a weekly certainly a monthly basis they receive different 'marching orders' on how they are to teach! E.g. in person, hybrid, remote...latest for her is hybrid by town. (Regional school district) so some towns w/low C-19 are in-person others remote. She ends up doing twice the work, but not able to get through all she wants for her students. Agree (not political) but it will be nice when we can all get vaccinated and see some semblance of a return to the 'ol days'...y'all stay safe 'n healthy!

there’s plenty of info out there showing schools aren’t being big spreaders. That’s why.

the teacher unions think they are more important than all the other essential workers apparently tho.

there’s even more data on how it’s fucking up kids horribly and needs to end.

In class is sooo much more healthy it isn’t even funny. We are destroying millions of children the longer they keep this up.

Edit: my sil is a teacher in western mass too. I’m not against teachers but the unions are not helping the teachers or the students with their agreements.

haven’t met a single person happy with the set up

I am sure this isn’t what the kids wanted for a school year; I certainly wasn’t a strong kid and doing remote learning wouldn’t have fared well for me.

My sister and brother-in-law are both teachers as well and echo the same being said here, it’s a bad year and they’re doing twice the work with worse results for students.

Being in healthcare though gives me a biased, no way around it. This is a preventable virus. The schools may not be “big spreaders” but it’s spreading none the less. Children seem to do well if they contract the virus but think about school staff. Janitors, secretaries, managements let alone the teachers in the classroom. These are at risk individuals who may have health problems or may be elderly looking at retirement in the near future. It’s may be bad for children to be out of in person learning for some time but it’s certainly bad to explain to a class full of children that their teacher won’t be back because they’re dead from a virus.

I’m not envious of parents right now, I can understand how everyone is unhappy. I know I’m unhappy working in the hospital telling family they can’t see loved ones who are going to pass away.

Side note - I wish you all the best @Bridge4 in regards to the venue business. I’m sure that’s a whole world of stress and complications on it’s own.

    Stay safe everyone!

My son has been back in school full time since the school year began. We had a choice, 100% full time or 100% remote. So some in our district are remote and others are in school. I thought it would reduce class size but he started the year with 27 kids in his class. He's still full time in school but the class has dwindled to 9 students. I'm grateful that he gets to go to school and socialize with friends. Sucks having to wear a mask all day but they do get mask breaks. Lunch was outside under a big tent until end of Oct when it got too cold but less kids there now I guess.

    I appreciate the kind thoughts.

Here’s what I’ve found in my unofficial surveys.

people with jobs think the lock downs fine.

people with kids and lost businesses and jobs are dying and running out of options and are sick of hearing about how we are in this together. Because it’s glaringly obvious we aren’t.

With people from all over the world everyday and over 1k visitors allowed, then everyone else can work too.

I also don’t want to argue about this. It’s such a personal comfort level thing for me and I wish they let everyone sorta choose their approach.
Something needs to give even coumo thinks we need to open up!

Thanks for the compliment on the pics.

Its not a CB antenna but it is for 2-way radio (comm/gov't). Both reception and transmission work great, and, though I am told that it is not the optimal location for an antenna; in practice, it works just fine. I suppose the mount (made by Victory 4x4) could be used for CB but I don't know for sure.

One more pic while i am here... looks lost in the woods

Yeah I think it’s a little crazy that the ski mountains all opened up without missing a beat. I guess you have the gaiter or whatever act as your mask. Are they filling ski lifts with strangers or is it individual/your own group? I haven’t been skiing in a few years now.

No arguments, just good discussion. Everyone has a different view of the world and it’s good to be reminded of the challenges other people face. You’re damn right I am blessed and fortunate to have a steady job. A lot of people aren’t in the same boat.

They are doing 3 people on the 6 pack I know. And they are closing the gates for a little if it gets too crazy. I've only been out once so far and it seems people are respecting if people want to ride alone or in groups.

I think its safe, they don't really have the lodges open and dining is way spread out. And it is a mainly outdoor activity anyways where you aren't next to each other all day.

I think we need these mountains to go no matter what sorta, they keep the communities surrounding them going. I think VT is having a big issue this year with business way down because people aren't traveling as much. All that lost hotel tax is gonna hit next budget, and all the businesses that closed because no one showed this year aren't paying either.

Just a strange situation all around and the ONLY way to run the country is to have taxes, so people need to work or they can't pay them. Printing money turns us into Zimbabwe inflation levels if we don't back it up with anything.

I saw @aStrauss recommend DMR Offroad. Does anyone have any good recommendations maybe a little further west, around the Naugatuck area? Or even Danbury, though I've heard Extreme Vehicle Builders are not very good...

Hoping to get a rear locker installed

    money gotta come from somewhere!!!!

I keep our business books super clean and we are highly organized.

The amount of people suggesting I do things for cash, or try to angle this or that....

No f***ing thank you. There are enough problems in my life without creating unnecessary ones to make 5k more a year. Our accountants have access to our quick books and check quarterly to make sure we are staying organized enough as well.

I've learned, the HARD way, if you do things wrong, you get busted eventually and it ain't fun. If you do things right, well there will be bumps because that's life, but you'll fix the tire and keep rolling.

Why do they let the jackpot get so big by making it so hard to win. Who needs a billion dollars. They could make it easier to win and have like 100 winners get 10 million each. Still life changing and enough to easily retire and do whatever you want.

This happened at my second job 15 years ago while I was a player, not an employee. The top brass was asked by some of us where the money goes and took the stance of "FU"..they got audited and then the IRS looked at some of the individuals as well, who had been getting paid cash in hand and not declaring it. Ask me how that worked out
