Question for my fellow CT peeps... been thinking about this recently, to add a "personal" touch to my truck, so wanted to get some input and possibly some answers to some questions I might have, since our DMV is fucking useless.

Vanity plates. Anyone has one? Good idea? Bad idea? For trucks, since we have COMB plates, are the "rules" any different?

Looks like they are 7 letters, so been thinking about going for this:

CTVLNSE

or

CATVLNS

Thoughts on that? Other ideas/suggestions?! Wanted to make it look like my username on here basically.

 

If you check into it in the past the DMV allowed regular plates on a pickup as long as the veh isn't used for a business.The regulation was there but you have to dig for it. It seems that the DMV has to be shown their own regulation. Combo plates on a non comm Vech is a money maker for the state , Overcharging you for something that doesn't apply too you.

Yep Tom's right. Sonce our trucks are under a certain GVWR they can be registered as passenger vehicles

I have passenger plates on my truck with no issues. Transferred plates from my Saab 93 when I sold it. I was thinking vanity as well but couldn't think of anything clever.

I'm relatively new to TW, but I got a quick question. I just instaled a rough country 2" leveling kit on my 10' Tacoma DCSB but it looks like it's slightly higher in the front rather than level. All the kit included was a pair of coil spacers...should I do something to the back as well? I'd like to make do with it for now if i can....also, What about suspension system recommendations? I like the icon kits but $$$.. what do you guys have on your truck and how do they look /perform? Here's my before and after pic as well for comparison. Thx

Yeah it's growing on me and upon further research I guess if I absolutely had to I could put a small space under the rear leaf springs

 

Welcome! I think it's either a) sitting even or b)the front is too low. Did you take a tape measure and measure your inches to ground on each wheel to confirm?

I ordered a bumper and initially skipped out on the powder coating option because I thought I would be able to get it done for less locally. Turns out it was going to cost almost double than what it did to have the company do it. You can try ZZ powder coating. I believe they are in the new London area, maybe east lyme.

 

I did the same and was totally wrong so I went with a Berliner kit and it's awesome, best part was I got the front and rear plate bumpers and I have enough to do my sliders. The kit itself was like 120 and it has everything you need except for thee compressor.
