The door close thing is only on the newer ones, from what I have heard they changed it to an electric from a tension type lock and water gets in the wire from somewhere and they for some reason can't nail it down. They put grease on your doors to keep moisture out as a temp fix.

If I ever bought a SD truck it would be a work type thing and I would probably keep it for a long time which makes me hesitate with Ram, but if it's like your buddy who will keep swapping them out, I think Ram is the one to beat these days. Their new models are light years ahead of Ford and GM as far as interiors and features.

 

Ah, in my case corrosion on the rod & a weak spring kept the door from latching. Sandpaper, and grease solved my issue, but taking apart the door to do it shouldn't have had to happen. LOL - just means they learned how to replicate a mechanical issue in an electronic form. Must be a feature!

 

Granted I 'may' have control issues - but you get to control how nice your neighborhood looks & they are paying you on top of it? BONUS.

I think I just fixed my MESO dome light.

Finally had time to fiddle with it. Went to unclip it and it started working. Looks like one of the caps that holds the wire is/was lose, so I gave it a squeeze with a small pair of pliers to hold it. We'll see if that holds up. If not then I'll have to try holding it with some type of glue or something.

Hey guys, very constructive weekend and then one shitty thing. Got alot done around the house, smoked some trout, and a bacon wrapped backstrap. Came out awesome. Shitty part is, had to buy a new washing machine today. There went my lift and tire money. Can’t catch a break, but here’s some smoker porn for ya.

Truck is going in today for those stupid squeaky leaf springs. But of course it rained last night, so they're not squeaking now...

*edit* The dealer said the my VIN wasn't matching the TSB for squeaky springs, but it clearly does. Should I fight with them to get the TSB solution applied, or just let them handle it under the warranty?

 

I'd say TSB. Warranty would probably "void" a future possible issue... right?!

 

That's what I was thinking. Plus, the TSB's are there for a reason right? I think I'll fight for it.

I had similar with a car some years ago. Leaking fuel line onto top of engine. My car was slightly newer than the recall, but I was insistant explaining a known safety defect happening on my car. I had a good dealer who covered it. Yours isn't a safety defect, but still a known defect - time to see if your dealer will step up. Try to get it covered, but even if under warrantee hope they figure out a way to care for their customer.

 

Oh - I just learned something & I'm not even at work yet!
