WD40 is more of a solvent type and will burn off quickly, Mobile 1 is very good for a cutting lube, another bonus..it is also great for firearms lubricant

Thank you! This is very helpful, as even when HD has them ins tock, their drawers are an absolute mess

Unfortunately WD40 was my only option at the time. I will use Mobil 1 next time! And I was doing this at my girlfriend's house otherwise I would have had some CLP or Hoppes lol. Any suggested weight for firearm lube?

Is it ever going to rain again...
I planted new grass seed in some spots about a week ago and I'm tired of watering it.

    @Checkers10160
I just cleaned up your wheel somewhat, pressure was a 18, I pumped it up to 35 gotta make sure it holds air.
It seems to be actually in better shape than I thought but I still don't like it.

You're so awesome man thank you. As soon as I can, I will get a real spare. Hopefully the 10/1 paycheck

No worries I just don't like giving it to you on account I'm not 100% on it!
It should serve it's purpose though.

Actually I never understood that dam spare anyway cause it's supposed to have acorn lug nuts on it and the lug nuts I have for the wheels it came with are flat:anonymous:
Makes no sense, I mean yeah it will go on but wrong style lug nuts!

So I'll be replacing my tires (Falken Wildpeak AT3W P285/70R17) before winter this year and I still have the original spare (Dunlop P265/65/R17). Figured after nearly 12 years is got to be dry rotted and probably not very useful if I ever needed it. Not to mention it's not the same size as the tires I'm running anyway. So I was going to use one of the worn down 285's that are on the truck now for a spare, ditch one that's been plugged due to a puncture a few months ago and sell the other two to anyone that's interested in a 285 spare.

    So two things:
1 - anyone interested? They will be coming off the truck probably in Dec some time.
2- what do I need to do to get it to fit in the stock location under the bed. Assuming some manipulation of those centering tabs. How easy are they to bend outward?

I'll be taking off one wheel in the next few weeks to trial it under the bed and see what's what. That way come Dec when I have them removed and one mounted on the spare rim, I won't have to be laying on the cold frozen Dec ground to try to make it fit. If it's not gonna work, I'll know ahead of time and won't have it mounted on the spare rim. But I would still want to replace the 12 year old tire with something more recent even if it's still the smaller size.

    285 is that like a 34" tire?
I have 255 those are 33s that I can actually fit it but it hangs a little low.
    I don't think a 34 will fit but I've never tried it.

    I run 33s skinny for winter:thumbsup:

Those are on my trailer and they actually measure as a 31" tire:anonymous:
Why did I think they were 33s?
    WTF:bananadead:
Some of you have seen my trailer, that's a pretty tall tire.

Depends on the aspect ratio. The first number is width, and the second number is aspect ratio, or percentage. So for example 265/75 is 265mm in diameter at it's widest point, and the sidewall is 75% of 265mm. So the first number does not necessarily tell you the height of the tire without the second

A 265/40 is only 26 inches high, because while it's 265mm wide, the sidewall is only 40% of that

Just like how a 33" tire can be a 255 or a 285. But the 255 will have a higher aspect ratio

Sorry I have been drinking since 2:anonymous:
    Thanks @Checkers10160

    Anyway @KeithB
You should be able to fit it no problem.
Just double check if it's against anything sharp up there so your not digging in from vibration.
If so file or grind, paint and proceed it shouldn't hurt anything if you take a bit off.
