Installing a decked system in my OR (short box) tomorrow.

I also have a Leer canopy.

I was recently on some really dry gravel and dirt roads and was quite shocked at how much dust is getting in the back through the tailgate and drain holes.

I am wondering with a canopy if I should plug at least some of them? I have to decide quick because once the decked system is in I lose my shot I guess.

The little side bed storage compartments will become non usable and have huge holes in them. Not sure if I should just leave the doors on or take them off and plug the holes?

Kind of wondering if mega dirt will just accumulate under the decked system over time (and does it matter)? I will sometimes put snowy or wet stuff on the deck so maybe still need some drainage?

    Thoughts?

Dont know what you decided to do, but I left the covers off of mine and didn’t plug anything. Just spent some time in the mountains of WV fly fishing on some nasty dusty roads. Had some dust under the system but hardly any above. Easy to clean out though. I just pulled the drawers and sprayed underneath. Only thing I wish I had done is done the loose bed bolt check/fix. I think I’m loose

Yeah it’s slick for the puppers. Not as bad as laminent or hardwood flooring because it has more of a textured surface (kinda treaded). I put my old rubber bed mat on top. He (they) don’t slip at all now). One of those cheap horse mats from tractor supply would work just as well.

Thanks for the info! I have an OEM bed mat that I can put on top, I was just thinking that with the bed mat I wouldn't be able to easily access the ammo cans on the corners...do you have a problem getting into them with the bed mat?

I spun it around to where the narrow part is at the back and centered it. Only partly covers each one and I can just lift it up a little to get into them. Not too much of a problem. Pretty easy to get into.

I see, I have a long bed so the mat is symmetrical. Good to know it's easy to lift up though!
