Take a serious guess at the jar of almonds. Who knows, maybe someone will gift you a pair.

5 minute head to head comparison is in. 40 dollar clearance dudes vs 25 dollar clearance Sanuks. Which pair stays in the house, and which pair goes in the camper?

    • Looks: well, they both were on sale for a reason. Do they look better than Crocs? Yes.
    • Fit: Sanuks are snug, they definitely wrap around your foot. Dudes are loose. Which would be terrible if it was a running shoe. For a loafer, any shoe that you can put on without using your hands has it's perks. Advantage: Dude.
    • Lightness: yes.
    • Comfort: Sanuks need breaking in. They are narrower and there's pressure on the outside arch, which is kinda weird. Dudes are ok out of the box, and I can see how it will break in to be a more comfy shoe. Advantage: Dude.
    • Durability: fuck if I know, this is a five minute review. The soft foam soles feels like a no to both. Sanuks do have a rubber liner on the bottom to reduce wear, so we'll see how that holds.
    Decision had been made.

    House shoe: Sanuks.

    Also house shoe: Dudes

And the campfire/midnight find a tree shoe: still my old Skechers boat shoes. :cookiemonster:

The dudes are too nice for the camp. I just wear what ever old shoe I have piled in the garage. Heck they don’t even have to match.

Maybe someday I will buy a pair. I just don’t have a spot for them in my lineup. I wear Wolverine Durashocks all day for work so when I come home, I free my piggies. The only thing I need shoes for on weekday evenings are for taking the dog out and for watering the plants in the yard. That’s where the crocs come in. I step into them and step out of them when I’m done. I don’t use the strap on the back so they are totally hands free. If they get mud on them I hit them with the hose. I used to chuckle at dudes wearing crocs and someone close to me got me a pair and I was shocked at how comfortable they are. They have to fit right or they won’t be comfortable. You Dude guys go up in size because they don’t make half sizes. I went down a size so they are snug and they’re perfect. I can use the strap and play shortstop with these on. The real problem with the dudes is that they will be filthy and wet and ruined in no time with me.

I totally barefoot it a the house. For someone who owns so many shoes, I hate wearing them.:anonymous:

Camping is really what got me into upping my variety. Sometimes we camp in mud or on the beach, but still need a nice shoe. Sometimes it's for hiking or launching the kayak, or sometimes we want to go find a nice restaurant in town or go see a concert, or sometimes I just want to be a bum and poke around the fire ring. It depends.

So that's where the shoe variety is needed. Something that could hang out at some swampy Louisiana campsite because later on we wanted to drink at the French quarter like a bunch of tourists, then wander over to the Superdome to see Paul Simon. :anonymous::anonymous:

That jar of almonds is now jelly beans and nobody knows who picked what. You and your organization skills are needed over there. Are you up for the challenge?
