Thanks for the info. I definitly think the OME kit is the way to go... let me ask you this...I don’t really plan on going with a steel plate bumper on the front and if I do it will be years from now. Maybe just the sleekster light bar and some lights. Are the 883s going to be stiff and uncomfortable? Also, with the Dakar leaf springs it looks like the back is jacked way up in a lot of the trucks I see. I don’t mind it to be slightly lower in the front but I don’t plan on bolting much weight to the truck, i.e bumpers, racks etc... I will however be occasionally be putting my motorcycle back there (500lbs) and if it’s jacked way up it makes getting the bike up there more difficult with approach angles of ramps and such. Do guys remove a leaf to lower the Dakar if necessary? I also don’t wanna run much bigger than a 31-32 inch tire . Thoughts?

I thought the same when I first went with the 881 springs. I ended up getting my armor sooner than I thought and switched to the 883. So you can go with the 881 if you want or just get the 883 to start with. It’s a truck so I don’t expect it to ride like a “Cadillac” even then I probably wouldn’t notice it much if it did give a harsher ride since this is not my daily driver. I also thought I wasn’t going to do bigger than 32” either but now that I did I’m glad I went with 33” when I upgraded my wheels. Once you start to mod or upgrade your truck it’s hard to stop so soon. I wouldn’t worry about the rake too much even for loading a bike. I have a bike too and I loaded on higher trucks before, it’s more a about the finesse and approach angle then brute strenght. If the rake still bother you after all is said and done you can get some top plate spacers to raise it up .5-1” which is very doable and won’t have much, if any, negative affect. If you went with the 883 then you might not even need the top plate spacer since it will give you a little higher lift (2.5-3”) to begin with than the 881.

I went down the same thinking path as you at first and this is what I ended up with for now. Meaning I might still switch it up, going a little higher and heavier. So your experience will vary.

Ok, thanks John ! Plenty to think about but most of all to convince the wife I need new susp..hehe I’m getting there but this is my “Daily driver” so I do care about comfort and I know she doesn’t want to get in and out of a jacked up truck. Decisions decisions

It’s a nice looking truck you have there. I can always appreciate a stock clean kept vehicle. Once you start with the mod it’s hard to stop because most mods builds on or branches out to one another.

As for getting into the truck, get sliders, they double as protection and a stepping platform.

After much thought and research I think it’ll be my best bet to just go ahead and start with 883s and the Dakar with AAL right from the gate. The more I think about it the more I’m interested in an ARB front bumper, camper shell, rear tire carrier and some 285s

Set $4000 aside and you should be able to get everything around the same time. Hope it works out for you and keep us updated.
