Well here it is in all it's glory! Some G-10 scales and a $20 higher price tag would make this even better. But the wife will love it.

It's pretty nice! I had to move the clip for tip-up carry but I'm gonna carry it for a bit. So far, not bad.

I didn't know they made a black wash 0200 tho. I had the bladeworks stonewashed silver version, but sold it to a friend.

So my Leek is dull as shit... Between using it all day at work and camping over summer it's pretty brutal...

I got a carbide sharpening thing from Accusharp but from what I hear they are pretty awful. I have put it through a few times and then used a ceramic rod thing to hopefully improve it. It's still pretty dull though...

Are these things useful at all? Or should I just go get a proper whetstone? I was looking at one with a 400/1000 grit.

I just got the Lansky sharpening system for christmas and did a couple of my knives and it does a pretty solid job. i got the saphire polishing stone to go with it and it really does a good job too. what does everyone else use?

I visited Dan's Whetstones today. They are the largest producer of novaculite sharpening stones. Both of Dan's sons gave me a tour of their parts of the shop, from rough cutting to finishing. It was pretty amazing to see the process and learn more about sharpening stones.

I was able to look through their seconds selection with the help of one of the sons and picked out a fine, translucent, and a black bench stone. The seconds are nearly perfect, but are just flawed enough that they can't be sold as full priced stones.

The lighting was great, but here are the stones I picked up. These are all 2"x8"X1".

Dan's is a few miles west of Hot Springs Arkansas. The black and translucent are the most expensive. The translucent in this size retails for $150, but the seconds was $90. They're not cheap, but they're heirlooms. My dad still has his black stone he bought when he was a teenager.

I think I missed. The box says "BW" but the ZT website just calls it a 0200. Must have the wrong box-oh well.

cool, I'll have to stop by if I'm near there. I've got a set of Japanese water stones, but I think some of the Arkansas stones would be awesome

I use a ken Onion Worksharp for work knives and a Sharpmaker for nicer knives. I would like to try the Lansky and eventually want to get some water stones.
