Too smooth for Micarta. What is the handle made out of?

It looked too shiny for micarta on the handle ridge, but now looking at the finger grooves I can see the layers.

I like fancier knives for the office, but if I'm outdoors chances are a Victorinox Electrician is in my pocket. Hell of a good knife for $30.

Well I started a project that's more of a pain in the ass than I expected but I got ahold of a couple of industrial saw mill blades and decided to make knives from them.

It took forever and a half to cut out but it's a slow work in progress and I think it'll turn out pretty good

At first I saw the sawblade picture on the homepage and thought he had literally posted a picture of paper mill "knives" which are round knives (shaped like a sawblade but smooth) used to cut paper into rolls off the machine continuously as it goes by at around 30 MPH...sorry industrial nerd moment :anonymous:

But also  ... want to see how that comes out

This whole project is gonna be a bunch of shit I've never done lol.
1st make the drop point knife
2nd make micarta scales for it
    3rd make a kydex sheath

At some point I'm gonna fuck something up lol but it's worth trying

Seriously. Sharpen last. Keep your bevel grind at 1/8 until after heat treat and then do a final grind for sharpening and creating the cutting edge.
